Path Clearing For Mustain?

It has always been Arkansas. Mustain's mom was not happy with Arky not giving HER the love everyday and needed some more attention. This woman is a mess. If we sign a QB this year, I hope it's Arvell Nelson. He would give us an entirely different look at QB.

What's the word on his friends Rose, Browning and Small?

Hooker in KNS says that it is not looking good after Roses' comittment to OSU, and is afraid that those guys are still a package deal. He did say that Fafilli (sp) still stood a pretty good chance of ending up in Kville. Said that he just didn't want to give up on his chance at being on the Tele. As far as Rose goes, they actually put a Fla hat in the lineup when it was supposed to be a UT hat. Rose claims they made a mistake.

I heard that Vince Young is going into the NFL draft. Think Mack Brown will be looking for a 5-star QB? and who would not want the chance to pilot that offense? My sleeper prediction is Mustain to Texas.

That is an interesting thought...but Texas already had one QB in that game. I think it was the Snead kid. I would be shocked if Mustain doesn't end up in ARK.

I just don't see Mustain going to Arkansas. I think UT has a better chance than some will think. If you were a prize recruit like that would you want your highschool coach being the one grooming you for the pros? I wouldn't. Granted UT has Ainge and Crompton in front of him, I think it will really come down to UT and Bama.

I know for a fact i wouldnt want my highschool coach who has taught me the past 4 years to keep teaching me in college. think about it, you are a good qb and yes he has helped you alot, but having the same guy for eight years in your life that has no experince in the college level that is proably going to lose his job a year after you leave......... eh i would pass.....

Methinks if I were as good as he is touted, I'd look for a PROVEN OC, perhaps one that had coached a quarterback or two to NFL multi-millions. . . .maybe brothers, even? . . . .hmmm. . . .

Now where could I find one of those???

You do realize that Nelson is a pocket passer and not a dual-threat QB. I hope you are not assuming because he is african-american that he must be a running QB. His 40 times are worst than some of our DL recuits. I am not criticizing him. I like what I have read about him. But, as for a different look at QB, I'm not sure what you meant by that comment.

We had our mittens on a good dual threat QB and things didn't work out. I think CPF is afraid of that style of play.

Brent Schaeffer :horse:

Fulmer and Spurrier are of the same school on QB's. You never see them stray from the safe, predictable pocket passers. I agree. I think he really doesn't know how to handle these types of QBs.

Except for aberrations, I.E. Vince Young, are there really "true" duel threat quarterbacks?

Would you rather have a quarterback trust his arm or his legs?

Don't know, I don't get paid to make those decisions, but like Cspindizzy said, I really don't think CPF knew what to do with a running QB other than Tee. I think he just let him work and when time was up, go back to the regular pro-style.

I'll admit I am bias toward drop back quarterbacks. Though I cannot dispute the fact that on third and long a quarterback scrambles and gains a first it demoralizes the defense.

I would be curious to know how many opportunities a running quarterback misses throwing the ball and decides to take off running, or the exact opposite of the above argument.

As 'entertaining' as Michael Vick is, I'd rather have the pocket passer back there. Look at Vick's stats and ratings since being in the pros. Look how long these style QBs last after taking poundings. How long before all that money is tied up in a wheel chair and body cast? or blown knees that are worthless?

I would like someone is mobile as well as a pocket passer..Look at what Shuler and Tee did..

I'd settle for a QB who can pass accurately, receivers who can catch and even stretch for the fingertip ones, and movement the correct direction of the field rather than back up with penalties and fumbles.

At this point and time, I'd settle for a QB that could do ANYTHING..

Or Brent Schaeffer might show up on Tech's list..

I think it's pretty funny how Arkansas is going to end up recruiting Mustain's whole highschool squad and coach just to get him. How's that for desperate. Of course, you can hardly blame them.
