Everybody says to quit freaking out and relax but you have got to face reality sooner or later, REALITY CHECK=Tennessee probably makes it to the tourney and then gets ousted in the first or second round. It is just not here it seems like this year, I mean no heart when they are down and not being physical enough on the defensive side of the ball, either pick up the intensity and show some heart and get ready for a dissapointing season ending with a 1st round loss in the NCAA tourney to a team like San Diego State or a team to that degree.

Hard to take this stuff seriously with your username. I imagine you sang a very different tune when the football team started 1-3.

considering we have 3 true freshman playing, there's a learning curve. give them some time. your threads are the worst.

It's even harder to take him seriously when you've read his previous posts.

it's DECEMBER...not March

It's hard enough to predict the tournament field in February...much less now

this thread lends no credibility...lame

If you want to a REALITY CHECK for the team here is is. This is a very young and talented team that has been somewhat inconsistent up to this point. Whent to a very competative Old Spice Classic and beat a very good GTOWN team. This is also a team that got a #8 ranking a little to early. This group of guys and newcomers are playing one of the toughest NCS in the country and by have as many regular season losses in mid-december as last years squad realize they have alot of work to do. This schedule and loss today is very good for this team and should be very good for their work ethic. I didn't get to watch the game because the high school I attended played in the 4A state championship in ky. But I am not suprised, like I said earlier in the year this is a team that will not start clicking and coming together until mid-january. So you do need to quit freaking out and relax.

How much of a learning curve did people give the football team to learn a new system? 3 games?

The argumentvwas about maturity level, not learning the system. Our football team wasn't playing 18 and 19 yet old kids across 30% of the field.

we have also had players miss due to injury..i.e..jp last night.

right now top 25 team not top 10 but they will be top 5 seed in tourney and will come together and win SEC and I believe this could be the year to win the SEC tourney

I really think this team has all the potential in the world to be a top 5 team by March. IMO i think their are only two teams in the country that if we played up to our potential would have better talent & depth, & to me those two or Duke & North Carolina.

I expected this team to take it's bumps & bruises early in the season. I knew we would have to find some chemistry & the players find their identity on the team. But what i didnt expect was for us to lose to Temple by 16. I thought the games we would lose early in the season would be in the Old Spice Tourney in the early rounds, to Marquette, & @ Kansas. I didnt expect us to play the horrific "D" that we are playing, i didnt expect us to have horrible offensive set's like we have been having, & i didnt expect us to not be able to press like we have the past few years. I did expect us to have some miscues & mistakes with them but not this bad. Like i previously said this team has all the potential & talent in the world to be a top 5 team, win the SEC regular season & tourney, & also make a run @ the Elite Eight but they have ALOT of work to do to reach that potential. IMO this is Pearls biggest test since he has been @ UT. Were about to find out just how good of a coach he is.

I agree, but the problem with that is that in the end you pay a heavy price in March for all that learning that took place. While they may get much better, losses equal a lower seed, and much tougher matchups in the tourney. Given that, I'm kind of starting to think a return to the Sweet 16 might be a little much to ask of this team. Only time will tell, and I certianly hope I'm wrong.

A little perspective, please!

Some of us still remember the not-so-distant past, when making the NIT was an accomplishment. No team has ever made the final 4 in December. Give these kids a chance.

True, we have come a long way, but I completely disagree about teams making the Final Four in December. Like I said before, seeding is EVERYTHING in the NCAA tourney. Since the field was expanded to 64 teams, 84 out of 96 (87.5%) Final Four teams have been a 1, 2, 3, or 4 seed, and getting those high seeds means racking up wins early in the season in addition to winning late in the year.

we need to get some help from a shooting standpoint......perimeter, 3 pt, mid range etc......if we can develop something there this team will be ok. it will open up the lanes again and allow us to do what we like to do.

right now, there's no reason for the defense to come out and guard us. and until there is, we will struggle against the more talented teams.

I'm not sure why Tyler insists on getting all the way to the bucket, getting airborne and then making decisions. He has a deadly mid-range game. Beat the guy, pull up and hammer it, like Ellis did at the college level.

Tyler's j is good, but not that good. That's become a lost art.

i do agree that he needs to try it more often, though, and either take it all the way to the rack or pull up under control. Defenders are content letting him spin, get airborne and then have help for the .8 seconds he has to make a decision.

maybe trying to get a foul, not sure.......but he's the king of the garbage shot.......just can't let that be our offense......

someone has to prove they can shoot. period.
