Patrick Brown is probably the best Ut sports writer out there. Just really sux he works in Chattanooga. I wish he'd at least write regionally. His articles are usually full of facts and not his opinions!

Works for me. Thanks to the golden age of the Internet, he could be in Eastern Uzbekistan and I still read all of his stuff.

It is sad to look back and remember the days when every major paper in the state had a good writer covering the Vols. Brown is the only decent writer covering the Vols these days. In fact the Memphis and Nashville papers do not have anyone covering the Vols anymore.

He's not only a great writer but has always responded to my emails about the Vols. Glad he's in Chattanooga, I almost hurl every day with all the dawg and tide car flags flying 24/7.

Good article.
Tennessee Vols have 3 back-line options | timesfreepress.com

When will KNS get a writer this good?

Probably when they face some real competition. They're the only game in town and they know it -- they're also too busy pushing their partnership with 247 and before that GoVolsXtra as a pay site to bother with paying good writers. And it's not just sports, their political columnists are all idiots too (both sides!).

Though KNS supports more conservative columns due to demographics, those columnists tend to be idiots who troll liberals fairly well. The liberal columnists are also idiots who similarly troll conservative readers pretty good. Their letters to the editor are pretty similar. Consequently, a lot of readers from both sides of aisle scream about bias but they still take the bait!

Their straight news tends be a bit better but with a few exceptions it's hardly in depth.

Interesting to see King's name brought up in the article. He made some plays as a freshman when kiffin was here. I think the poor kid has been on the injured reserve since then.

Tom Siler, Ben Byrd, & Mr. Leonard in Nashville...all superior to the clowns
disguising as "sports journalists" in Knoxville & Nashville. Patrick Brown's columns are lucid, informative & entertaining.

Wes Rucker was the best writer covering the Vols when he worked for the Chattanooga paper. Now he's a tool and his replacement is about the best writer covering the Vols. Something tells me the credit should go to the TFP's sports editor (whoever s/he is), not necessarily the writers themselves.
