Willis's younger brother drowns
Detric Willis, the 17-year-old younger brother of Ole Miss All-American linebacker Patrick Willis drowned Monday afternoon while swimming with a group of friends near the gravel pits in Camden, Tenn. according to The Jackson Sun. Willis was a rising senior linebacker for Bruceton Central High School. According to Rivals.com, he was being recruited by Ole Miss and Florida State. As a junior, he recorded 100 tackles to go along with three sacks.
Bruceton Central football coach Tim Gilmer told The Sun that the younger Willis had been swimming in "very, very, very deep" water for "three or four hours" Monday afternoon before cramping up. Gilmer said people there were trying to pull the 6-foot, 218-pound Willis out of the water, but were unsuccessful. It us unknown how long he was under water before the paramedics finally retrieved him.
