They were going to have to pay through the nose to fire him whenever. Per GA (IIRC) he had a rolling 5-year contract that auto renewed every year at some exorbitant amount along with extra buyout moneyz.

Worst contract in the history of evar by GT.

Yep. The buyout never was going to get much less.

If Hewitt could have stayed in the vicinity of competitive he could have kept the job forever. his ACC record is flat out comical for a coach that stayed around so long.

He was 72-104 in ACC play. And I believe he only had one winning record in conference play in 11 seasons.

If Tech ever gets the right guy, they could become a force without even getting on a plane to recruit.
