He told Hugh Hewitt on his radio show that he ran the Chicago marathon in "2 hour 50 something."

He was more than a little off there.

It was actually 4 hours, 1 minute.

I think the guy just gets so pumped up he starts talking crap and its going to come back to haunt him.

When it reaches into the UE rate not reaching 8% if we spend a trillion $ we don't have it may be relevant to the country.

You can't label falsely claiming a sub 3 hour time -- which all runners know is quite extraordinary -- as anything other than an intentional fib. I suspect the DNC will have some fun with this.

Probably an honest mistake considering Ryan is the one that corrected the error:

In a statement issued to Runner's World by a spokesman Friday night, Ryan said of his marathon experience:

"The race was more than 20 years ago, but my brother Tobin—who ran Boston last year—reminds me that he is the owner of the fastest marathon in the family and has never himself ran a sub-three. If I were to do any rounding, it would certainly be to four hours, not three. He gave me a good ribbing over this at dinner tonight."

BTW, ran into an ex at the St. George Marathon last year. She ran a sub-3 that day....after 7 kids. Yikes!

If he just said that today, it is not his first time of saying that. They were discussing him making that claim on Morning Joe yesterday. I just caught the end of it , don't know where he had made that claim.

Its just not Ryan. All these politicians should realize basically everything they do is recorded. I sincerely believe 99% of all politicians think they can lie their way out of anything.

SNL should bring back Jon Lovitz to imitate Ryan.

"I ran the marathon in 4 .... 3 and a ha... Under 3 hours. Yeah. That's the ticket."

Hmmm, a stupid, irrelevant issue that in no way reflects what kind of leader he would be?

Sounds like something you and the clowns at the DNC would feign such outrage over.

Obama's lies about his personal life are so much more ridiculous yet there aren't really individual threads on them. Of course those were lies to sell books so I guess they're forgiven and classified as marketing

Fwiw.....pretty funny that someone who claims a law degree can't spell 'exaggerate'.
