Peach Bowl Thread: #1 LSU (13-0) vs #4 Oklahoma (12-1) (ESPN 4:00 PM)

Because a showing like this is demoralizing. It sticks with you. It's the kind of loss that makes the head coach go ahead and leave, which will make people leave. Remember how our 2001 win in Gainesville made Spurrier leave? This will help. I promise.

I hope so.. we'll see. I think it'll motivate them, their freshman QB on the bench is a better passer. Should be a good game in Norman regardless, I'll be there!

LSU:

7 possessions
7 touchdowns
495 yards of total offense on 40 plays from scrimmage

At this point if you're LSU you have to work on effectively running the football. You keep Burrow out there for the 1st series. Run the football because you won't be able to pass like this against Clemson or LSU.

They will need to maintain their edge and physicality. So not just straight ahead run, but their whole run package needs to be fine tuned for the Championship

Our win in 2001 didnt make Spurrier leave Gainesville.

No, we simply disagree.

And you’re bringing the NFL into the conversation, a league that damn near legistates parity and equal distribution of talent through the draft, versus CFB where the best teams pick and choose the best talent?

The gap between the #1 and #8 CFB teams is MUCH greater than the #1 and #8 NFL teams. There’s a reason why we haven’t seen an undefeated NFL team in over 45 years.

Expanding to eight teams will give us one extra week of games like the one being played now.

This island is beautiful.

You may be right. As you said, we simply disagree.

You are right about the relative parity level in the NFL. But still...the rest of college football has a playoff with at least 16 teams. Why not 8 for the FBS? Is there really that much difference between #1 and #8 in any given year? In the brief history of the CFP, the #4 team has won it twice, and the #2 team has won the other 3 times. That would suggest...as does the bowl history of teams who just missed the cut...that expanding the field would not in fact dilute the product over time.

I think it will eventually go to 8 teams. So we'll eventually get the chance to see how it all plays out.

Thanks for the intelligent discourse. Hard to find here sometimes.

Not comparing us to LSU, just thinking of all that Oklahoma loses next year. Plus this is showing the rely on talent rather than good coaching. They will take a step back next year imo.

Oklahoma still has the advantage in all areas of the game against Tennessee next year. Their talent level exceeds ours.

Has there been a more impressive offense in the last 25-30 years in the SEC than this LSU offense? Not trying to get ahead of myself.

LSU has run 40 plays from scrimmage but has 20 first downs and 7 touchdowns. Think about that... Oklahoma can't stop $hit.

Neither was LSU ... last year.
They won the Fiesta Bowl last year. Their senior class was the No. 2 recruiting class. The signs were there. Then they added Joe Burrow who is the best college quarterback I've seen in 4 decades of watching football (Peyton was comparable except he didn't have Burrow's wheels and escapability).
