Sounds like he can play but its risky and Pearl's not going to suit up a guy and then have him die on the court. If you need a defibrillator to get your heart back pumping that's a pretty big deal. I wouldn't want that on my conscience as a head coach.That just doesn't make sense. If he has been cleared to play by a doctor then it should be his decision on his future basketball options. To have a medically cleared player told he can't play for UT doesn't add up. Maybe there is more to the story - like there is no medical clearance, but based on this simple information it sounds like Bruce is making a decision someone with an MD should be making.

Sending him away to a "smaller college" would be a bigger weight on my mind if he's been medically cleared to play. The facilities and personnel at UT already saved him once. If he was cleared and died elsewhere it would always loom that UT could have saved him.
IRRC He's been told that playing is his choice, but it would be like playing craps with his life. Pearl is 100% allowed to tell a player he can't play if it could kill him. All of you saying otherwise aren't using logic, IMO.
