Pearl said today on ST that he would submit NBA draft evaluations on Scotty Hopson and Brian Williams.
I also found it interesting that Pearl said if he had it to do over again, at the end of the MSU game, he might consider advancing the ball to half court and calling another timeout.
If that could be done with only .2 seconds off the clock like the first time, that may have been the better play. Not that any strategy is going to be a great one in that situation, but Tennessee might have gotten a slightly better look.
Pearl talked about offseason work, mentioning that Tatum needs to really go crazy in the offseason with his body. Williams has changed his body and now needs to chisel it.
Other notes from Pearl.
On J.P. Prince: if he had a better jump shot he could play in the NBA.
On Kenny Hall: Wayne's freshman year was better but Hall is bigger and rebounds better. He put 25 pounds on when he got here but he needs to get in the weight room and put 20 more on.
On Jordan McRae: Combination of JP and Scotty. He's long and athletic. He flies through the air and can really shoot the ball. His body needs work because he is very thin.
On Tobias Harris: He's a productive, solid, hard-playing, very mature and very skilled player. A combination of Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism. Plays bigger than Tyler but not as big as Wayne. Skilled like Wayne to be able to play the inside outside game. He's a better ball handler than Wayne and a better passer.
On scholarships: Tennessee has one more available and is still in the hunt for a guy. If they can get the right one, they will bring him on in.
On Jeronne Maymon: Tough guy. Undersized inside player with above average skill level. He's strong and could be a matchup problem for other teams.
On Negadu: Could consider transferring to a smaller school. There have been some examples where a kid with a defibrillator has played at smaller schools. Not sure if that's an option for Negadu or not.
