I don't think this has been posted yet.

Coach Pearl has offered class of 2010 PG/SG Aaron Craft. Craft is a starting guard on the 69-1 All-Ohio Red 16U team that won the Super Showcase, 16U Nationals, Adidas Take 5ive and also King James. Craft averaged 18.3 ppg as a sophomore for Findlay-Liberty Benton High School in Ohio.

Not a recruiting insider or anything but it seems the mid-majors will offer a guy early and then the big boys come in after more evaluation like with Daniel West. Maybe CP gets in early with this guy before the other major schools and get the inside track?

I completely 150% trust Pearl's judgement. If he wanted to sign Davidson Academy's water boy I would trust him.

i know were in the running for John Wall, best player in the country. Back-up plan if we don't get Wall?

we're not in the running for wall. wall is going to baylor to follow his travel coach, who just got a job there. if he doesn't follow his coach, he's going to memphis. ut hasn't ever been in it for him

This offer tells you all you need to know about where the staff thinks we stand with Joe Jackson.

I agree. If he doesn't go to Baylor, its Memphis followed by Kansas.

Got to admit, I love Pearls recruiting ways...He goes after the big boys when the past coaches were almost afraid to even try for them...He's a true go getter

Point guard isn't exactly a high priority in the class of 2009 anyway. We are going hard after the top PG in 2010 Josh Selby. He is a much higher priority than Wall anyway because of the lack of depth we will have in 2010.

I'm assuming he is Jordan Sibert and Adreian Payne's AAU teammate, if so Pearl has certainly seen him play. I would think this would be a fall-back if he doesn't land guys like Selby/Jackson?

Jordan Sibert Profile - Basketball Recruiting
Adreian Payne - Basketball Recruiting

Payne is MAJORLY overatted. I have played against him a bunch, and about 3 times this summer. Our center, Matt Kavanaugh, a 6' 10'' 3 star commit to the Dayton Flyers handled and absolutely shut him down in every way imaginable. Payne is way too skinny, underweight, and weak to play down low with the big boys, he just gets pushed around.

I agree, Craft is an 2010 prospect, I think Coach Pearl offered him because he will be a solid 4 year player. I think the top PG spot could be a toss up between Selby, Marshall, and Jackson. I certainly like our chances with Selby. Marshall is UNC bound and Jackson is Memphis bound.

Really? Considering every single one of BP's recruited PG's have failed thus far? (Marques Johnson, Ramar Smith, and you can even consider Cordell Passley)

If he continues to bring in adequate enough players even while we lose them is he really failing? Despite these perceived "short-comings" Pearl has lead us to two straight sweet 16's, a #1 ranking, and an SEC championship. Despite losing some players if he just keeps replacing I'm not sure I'm that worried.

Johnson was at ut for about a month, ramar was there for a year and a half learning a position he had never played before and no passley doesnt count.

Thank you for proving my point. All three of those examples means that Pearl has recruited 3 point guards (not including this year's class), and all of them have failed in one way or another.
