Loosely translated by me.

The game was about what we expected. ETSU is small and quick and they were difficult to press. Their offense would not let the game get out of hand. It was one of those games we managed and didn't beat ourselves.

ETSU had 10 offensive rebounds, which is not a good ratio to the overall number of rebounds. It had a lot to do with them knowing they were going to shoot the ball with the shot clock running down and then crash the boards. They were a hard team to press -- they were smaller and quicker than us. Our assist to turnover ratio was good. Maze had some good looks but was 0-4 from three.

I (Pearl) said to Maze after the game 'McBee goes 3-3 and you are 0-4? What's wrong with this picture?'

Big three-pointer by Hopson down the stretch even though he had stuggled from the field. Scotty has to finish at the basked. He had a lot of close misses, but it's good that he is getting there -- last year he didn't. But he does not go to the foul line enough and he's got to get there. You have to score the basket regardless of contact. McBee made some huge huge shots. All were at big moments in the game.

It seems we only got the ball to Brian and Wayne when we called plays for them, not on their own. We need to recognize mismatches better. We did not take advantage of them tonight.

Tyler was 6-9 from the field and 3-5 from the line. Tyler is one of the most productive players in college basketball. I would love to see him start shooting the ball. Tonight he turned down some shots. He will take them when he's ready, but he's obviously not ready. He needs to shoot better in practice. Right now his confidence level is not very high in his shot. That's a big reason he won't shoot.

Kenny Hall got active tonight. It's a shame we can't get him and Renaldo more minutes but they live behind Tyler and Wayne so it's difficult to get them minutes. But they are the future of our front line. Wayne only got 6 shots and 24 minutes. We've got to get him a lot more touches than that.

The players will take some time off to focus on finals. They will hit the weights -- four lifts in the next 10 days. Tommorrow and Sunday will be off days -- so the players can get their legs back. But when they do go, they must go hard. The team has a long way to go to become the kind of team that they are capable of becoming.

Big game a week from Friday in Middle Tennessee. It's a home game for MTSU and we need to be sure the orange shows up. It's important to get the word out. There is no football that weekend so it would be great to make a puch and sell some tickets in Knoxville.

Wow. I agree 100%

Scotty needs to finish at the rim, Wayne needs more touches, and we are ALL waiting to see Smith shoot instead of driving or spinning to the rim. Thought that's what he worked on in the off season. Like I said from the beginning, if Scotty explodes to the rim (and actually finishes) he's one of the most difficult players to stop. Long frame with a huge bounce.

Also, Woolridge better learn to play the 3 effectively because if he can't take Tylers minutes, no way he gets Tobias minutes.

im tired of brian williams missing layups.. he needs to dunk and finish

It drives me crazy to see a guy his size lay it up, one thing (and well the only thing) I liked about Major Wingate was that he would slam it when he had the opportunity.

If Tyler isn't ready with his shot when he's a senior he never will be.

Watch out now, some people will call you a hater for comments such as that :whistling:
Not a hater, but clearly doesn't understand basketball as a player. Even the best shooters go through extended slumps where they can feel their mechanics just aren't right. It does affect confidence in the ability to consistently make shots.

Not too much different than a pitcher having a bad stretch where simple arm slotting is the problem for a month.

It's all correctable, but the mental aspect comes after the physical is put in place for a time.

I literally cringed when I saw the words "Renaldo is the future of our frontcourt." That was a joke right? seriously?

I'm tired of JP Prince thinking he is the mac daddy of bball. That missed backwards dunk followed by another attempt on the next possession was just ugly. Make the basket, we needed the points at that point in the game. He always looks like he is half-arsin it out there. Our players looked like that had no hussle against the zone d, and we weren't penetrating at all.

However, I love Skyler McBee,, ,that dude can shoot and should have got more looks because he was open a lot throughout the night.

Bruce hit the nail on the head when he talked about getting Williams and Chism more touches. The guys have mismatches in the paint and we aren't getting in position to get it to them or simply don't see them at all.

If we can get these guys established early in games, defenses have to adjust with double downs, help side, etc. Logically this would free up Scotty, Skyler, and company for kick outs and open 3's. Our big men have to take some pressure off of our guards.

I missed half time, what happened?

Well, nothing against the kids in the 'concrete angels' show at halftime, but watching the automatic soap dispenser in the men's room do it's magic was immensely more entertaining.

I'm livid they didn't use the delay to allow the "Basketball Dancers" to show more of their act. That's high quality entertainment.

JP suffers from Tony Harris syndrome, except Tony Harris could play and occasionally shot the lights out, JP is going to make me go to anger management.
