Don't flame me or taze me ,Bro...

What if Tennessee retained Pearl and he was given the one year show cause penalty. Then we went out and tried to sway a top assistant from a top tier program for a one year show coach. This would give our program time to get better and keep our recruits.

Mediator between Pearl haters and supporters.

Otherwise Hire Mooney(Richmond)or Gregg Marshall(Witchy State)

Any coach we hire will be a crap shoot, unless he is already at a big time school and is a proven recruiter.

But Bruce Pearl was a crap shoot and that turned out pretty great until this year!!!!

There is no solution that involves keeping Pearl that is acceptable IMO. He has brought tremendous negative attention to UT, cried about it and then ran afoul of the rules again 3 days later. He should've been canned on the spot. Instead, Hamilton kept him and told the world that UT cares more about potential wins than integrity. Second chance? Sure. At a D2 or D3 school somewhere far from Knoxville.

Besides Larry Brown, who could come in "big name" and pull recruits or keep recruits in this mess?

Small college bb coaches is going to be a totally rebuild just like DD and football. I like DD but lets be honest, we only got him after about 10 coaches turned us down and we had to settle!

It is funny though if you see different ESPN folks that some of them want or wanted him gone and others say that the Vols should keep him or think long and hard before they do anything

That is what my point is. The lack of getting a quality coach replacement would set us back further and although Pearl F'd up badly he is a great coach. So set him on the sidelines and go after an up and coming assistant off Kansas or Duke staff. One year contract for Head coach in training. (Keep Pearl under waiting and we could have a top coach for half a million) NM sounds like Hamilton fundraising:)

Bruce Pearl will be successful at another school. He has taken his teams to the NCAA tourney 15 out of 17 years. TN's run to the tourney 6 years in a row is over.

If he gets let go he will be radioactive to any other big six conference program. But I'm sure some small program will snap him up after his year off.

Come on. Don't start the whole "Tennessee will never win again" garbage. Coaches other than Pearl can make the tourney here.

He has brought tremendous negative attention to UT,

Eh, so? We're not the first program to have negative attention. Ohio State is going through a 6-game suspension of its coach AND significant players (including their starting QB). And Ohio State is STILL sticking with their men despite the fact that the Ohio State coaching position is one of the most coveted jobs in college football and they could easily find an worthy replacement (possibly from the NFL).

We, on the other hand, can't live through 1 measly year of scrutiny when our program has practically a 0% chance of getting a better coach than Pearl.

Take a look at our probable roster for next year. Any coach will have to rebuild this team. We have some pieces, but it will probably be a rough year no matter who we get.

:eek:lol:Why the hell would a quality assistant coach from a basketball school the quality of Kansas or Duke want to leave that school to hitch their wagon to Bruce Pearl? Get real.

The hilarious part about several of you guys repeatedly making this statement is that you're acting like it takes some great accomplishment to make the NCAA tournament. In a power conference, you don't even have to really be worth a damn and you can still make the NCAA tournament. Don't believe me? Look at this year's UT squad for Exhibit A.

Can name you several years in the not to distant past where it was a chore to make the show.

First of all, it's a 5-game suspension - not a 6-game suspension. Second of all, it is not yet known whether Ohio State will end up keeping Tressel or not. The NCAA hasn't even finished its investigation of their program. Finally, UT should set its sights a lot higher than aspiring to rival the level of integrity exhibited by Ohio State.

They're going to have to wait two or three years.

Amazing how oblivious some are to this factor. Unreal. You would think the guy is just getting axed for not meeting expectations. Not even a lot of media mention the fact he is almost certain to be out over a year. How will that not hold back the program? 1-2 more years of this uncertainty? No thanks
