When he was at Southern Indiana. He was at home and his team was having a really bad night with the refs. He called time out and told one of his guards "Go guard the ref, get all over him" and he ran over to the ref and started waving his arms around madly. The ref stepped back and he got right up on him guarding him. The ref stopped play and went over to pearl and said "What's the hell is going on?"

Pearl told him "Well, when I was an assistant at Iowa, Tom Davis told me to always put my best defender on the guy causing us the most trouble and YOURE IT BUDDY!"

Technical foul!

reminds me of Days of Thunder:
" I want you to go out and hit the pace car."
"why?"
"Cause you've hit every other damn thing out there today, i want you to be perfect!!!"

Good stuff.

I think he told that story at the tipoff lunch yesterday. One of the VASF guys was telling me that story today after the breakfast. It really is funny. I'll bet it's even more funny to hear him tell it.
