My last two posts were fairly negative about the bball team and that was probably me reacting to the loss in the heat of the moment, but upon letting the emotions subside I keep thinking about how frustrating it is to see Pearl substitute players in and out unrelated to foul trouble and exhaustion. I realize a lot of the front court substituions are due to foul trouble but I also feel that it is more to it than that. Pearl Jr and McBee in particular are hurting the team, especially when paired together (Woolridge was too before his injury). There's been several games when I've been impressed w S Pearl, especially his effort. But to have him in as much as he was in against Oakland is not fair to the team. Any casual observer would notice his negative affect during the last 5 minutes tonight. He had a critical turnover followed by an immediate foul on one position, then a missed shot followed by a quick foul on another position, sending Oakland across the court for freebies. McBee came in when we were up 8 with around 7 minutes left and Hopson gets the defensive rebound and seconds later McBrick jacks up a three ball without running any clock. Sure enough, he misses and the Oakland starts their late run.

Also, I've noticed Pearl will substitute out the hot hand too. Take the Pitt game, for example. Scotty went on a tear and shortly after that ridiculous dunk he had he was subbed out. He wasn't tired, quite the opposite. I couldn't help but notice a look of disappoint as he headed to the bench. He only had one more basket (one more look, I should say) the rest of the half. The hot hand was subbed out several times tonight as well (at one pt Tobias, then B Williams, then Goins, etc etc).

I hope Pearl allows the hot hands to stay in longer. I also hope he starts allowing our top 7 players more minutes. Mainly, I hope he stops playing McBee and giving so many bench minutes to his son, especially during crucial intervals of the game. The bench should have to earn playing time, and they have certainly not done so up to this point in the season.

If this subbing pattern continues then results like tonight will repeat and there will be many disappointed fans, including myself.

It's the exclamation points. That's how you know the clown is on top of things. He really brings the second grade punctuation.

He's always done this. Another example in the Pitt game: Tatum had been very quiet, then hit a 3 and had another bucket (2 straight trips if I recall correctly) and immediately went out.

They have a planned rotation plan and stay with it regardless of the situation or performance of the players. It certainly could be questioned, but has resulted in many good results.

You are correct CBP gave his team NO chance to win the other night with those lineups you can't just "turn in on" we score 82 shoot a good percentage and lose to a mid-major. Bruce Jr was tops in minutes off the bench thats a JOKE way to not give your team a shot Bruce keep playing JR and more losses will come to teams we shouldn't lose too.
