Maybe I'm repeating something posted I didn't see, but earlier this week, Pearl sent an email to the entire student body. If they came to the game tonight and used the student entrance, they'd be given a card to submit for a lottery-drawing for a semester's free tuition.

I've got two young relatives in school at UT now, and they said that, whatever was reported about the attendance on t.v., there were hundreds camping out in the parking lot last night waiting to get in.


Maybe, if Fulmer doesn't want to take my suggestion about hiring Summitt as a sports psychologist because she's a girl, he could see his way to hiring Pearl as a consultant instead. He's obviously not only got the testosteronally-approved things between his legs, but they're obviously big, brassy, and independently sentient........

But, speaking of high, is nobody else tripped out about the idea of Pearl offering a 'free tuition' lottery for coming to tonight's game?

Or should I have used the full dose on LIO and not saved a bit for myself?

Bruce Pearl knows what's going on all the way around. He know about basketball, he knows about promoting it, he knows what he needs to do to get the Nation's attention. He's just all around and great coach and a great ambassador for this program.

A guru is a poster that has been here for over a year and made a good amount of mostly quality posts. It's the end of the road for the Newbie, Member, starter etc...

When I was a student at UT Ray Mears was the coach. He WAS the ultimate promoter. During warmups he had one of his players ride a unicycle and his team did warmups to the tune "Sweet Georgia Brown". He was the first coach to use the phrase "Big Orange". I'm glad to see CBP carry on the tradition.

Anyone see that clip of Pearl at the practice on Sportscenter? He was yelling at the players saying something to effect of how he didn't want to see how tired they were...he was'nt interested in that.

He said seeing them puking into a bucket from playing too hard might interest him.. :blink:

That dude has a lot of energy!

Hey if ESPN questions video footage of BP and his methods, can someone send them some Buzz TV and explain to them that we don't question BP?

I for one and in only MHO. We could use him as our AD. CBP knows how to get it done!

I didn't even KNOW about the promotion... didn't get that e-mail somehow... but it was a GREAT idea, although I don't think that's what put the kids in the seats. BTW, the attendance was 24,011 if anyone hadn't heard! I think that's a record for a men's game in TBA!!!!

It just seemed that I had read that the most for a men's game was 21,4something... but that may have just been for an SEC opener.

So it wasn't the record, but it was the most in FIFTEEN YEARS. :D

From my understanding of the announcement made at the game, the funds for the free tuition came from the Orange Nation membership dues. Regardless of where the funds come from, it is a great promotion and Pearl's involvement shows how that he has promotional acumen.

I didn't get that impression... it would have only taken about 70or so people's dues tho... so I guess that's a possibility. I wasn't listening very carefully to the announcement, except when they said "Ryan..." then my ears perked, dang it wasn't me. :D
