Pearl aint going anywhere especially not NC State!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For real!! Why in the world would he want to go NC State? If anything, he's going to move up...not down. Get a grip people.

I will preface this by saying that I don't think there's any chance Coach Pearl takes another job. However, to feed the paranoia of the fearful, I'll remind them that the current president of the University of Cincinnati is the woman who hired Bruce at UWM. The Big East, great tradition, a city environment, that's the kind of job Pearl might leave for, not some forlorn outpost like Iowa City.

I still ask the question, "where would be better?" No school has the potential that UT has. Very few schools have a place like the Tommy, just WAITING to become like it was against UF... except every NIGHT. What better situation could there be?

Actually, NC State has won as many national championship (2) in basketball as our football team has. They also play in the ACC which is a better BB conference than the SEC year in and year out. So, obviously if NC State approached UT with big bucks, I'd be worried. So would be Mike Hamilton.

My wife commented that Bruce Pearl reminds her of the late Jim Valvano, not so much in appearance, but in his mannerisms and ebullient spirit, stuff that the Eastern media such as ESPN eat up. I agree.

Yeah after reading the thread I was going to comment that like it or not NCSU would be a step up at this point and they do have some tradition with a couple NC's..albeit a couple decades ago.

By that logic, the University of San Francisco is a step up from the Florida job.

I live in Indiana and I wouldn't worry too much about Pearl getting snagged for the job. They interviewed Randy Wittman yesterday. Alford is the front runner among the fan base. However, I think the candidate the AD is going to take a run at first is Thad Matta and Ohio State. He has an out and expressed interest in the IU job before, but they held onto Davis last year. He would be inclined to move especially with OSU getting ready to be on probation from his predecessers transgressions. And if he moves with OSU on probation, the thinking here is that Oden and Conley, the stars of his recruiting class would move with him. With those 2 guys, Indiana's drought is instantly over. A few of the Mike Davis supporters still around are thinking IU is still going to get into the tournament because the beat PSU wednesday night.....barely. Shows how delusional some of the fan base is here. Anyway, don't worry about Pearl going to IU. And NCSU???? They are a 2nd tier program. Why leave UT for them?????

These guys have signed LOI's so they'd have to sit out if they left now...just cant see it especially since both may only play one yr of college ball anyway.

Not many teams will. It's tough to beat a team with Bill Russell and KC Jones.

They don't have to sit out if OSU goes on probation. It is one of those cases where kids can rescind their letters without penalty. I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to what Matta says in the media right now. That is all for the ears of his kids. He said the same thing at Xavier about the OSU job and a week later he was announced as the new coach. Remember Roy Williams saying he wasn't interested in the UNC job and 2 days later he is announced as the new head coach? You aren't going to get the truth out of any college coach right now that is going to be in the tournament. The media generate these stories KNOWING that it is anyone's guess if they are true or not. They just generate interest for ratings and website hits.
