Pelosi Suggests Freezing The Defense Budget

It's not necessarily a bad thing. She said that it would basically apply to only defense contractors and not to combat operations. I can tell you first had there is a lot of waste and redundancy in the defense world. The only questions is what projects and contracts does she have in mind. Only after we find that out, will we know if this is a good thing or bad thing.

Yeah, I trust a hollow-eyed, dried up hippie to determine what military contracts are wasteful and redundant and which ones are not.

If DoD gets a budget freeze better make it across the board with other cabinet departments.

And yet again, the Dems are just solidifying the image of being fringe. Independents are fleeing in droves and they continue to make "fringe left" statements that paint them as anti-military, anti-defense, etc. The only hope for Dems this November is a vow of silence.

This is the same administration that ordered 8 more C-17's and the Pentagon told them they didn't need them. They were ordered anyway.

I just think it would be bad timing for the Dems to do this. Obama said he wouldn't freeze the defense budget. It might put their feet to the fire so to speak.

Not a real surprise.

We haven't had time to sit down with our enemies, and talk them out of disliking us yet, it may be a bit premature.

It wouldn't be the first time Obama's been made a liar. While I'm doubtful this administration could get it right in choosing what programs to cut and which ones not to cut, I'm not totally against the idea. I just want the most bang for my buck. No pun intended.

Pelosi needs em to carry half of Washington back and forth to San Fran every week.

Would you be okay with the Three Stooges cooking your breakfast every day if it could save you a few pennies?

I'm not trying to push your buttons, just trying to draw a parallel. In the military, small changes can become the difference between life and death.

Don't get me wrong I am very pro national defense, I am very pro strong military, but I am also very anti wasteful spending. I'm not like some people when I hear defense budget cut and stick my fingers in my ears and scream LALALALALA. I work in the defense industry. I see wasteful spending everyday I go to work. I see 5 groups of people making the same project, with the same functionality, for 5 different customers, charging me, the tax payer, 5 different times for it. It's this kind of stuff that needs to stop.

I said that I was doubtful that I would agree with Pelosi's recommendations, but that doesn't mean that I don't agree that there are areas in the defense budget that can and should be cut.

Then we are agreed, defense spending needs to be cut but you don't want the Three Stooges leading it. :good!:

If their ideas are good I'll support them, if not I'll oppose them. There are several R's I wouldn't trust with that either.
