Penn State in Trouble Again

Sry but if this holds up in court a lot of doctors could follow his lead.

Not saying it’s right to clear players who are injured but this happens at a lot of schools.

LOL I live in Pennsylvania, married to a Penn State alum and friends with Alumni board members. I know where the bodies are buried

You have my sympathy. LOL. Seriously, how do the PSU fans like Franklin? I live near Nashvegas and had to endure his snarky butt while he was at Vandy. He won but seemed like a dip wad.

Many are wary, they didn’t like some of his play calling last year. Of course all are still completely obsessed with Paterno that none can compare anyways.

It’s fun. Sometimes I fantasize about going to one of these alumni events and shouting “Joe Pa Knew!” Just to see what would happen

LOL. Make sure you are standing near an exit and have the car running for a fast getaway. How did you become a Vol fan?

PSU fans seem bipolar about him. He was *this* close to getting fired early in the 2016 season after that early-season loss to Michigan. They ended up beating #2 Ohio St and winning the Big Ten that year, and remained ga-ga over him until the Ohio St game last year. That 4th down call was atrocious, then they lost a game to Michigan St that they shouldn't, got destroyed by Michigan, and lost the bowl game to Kentucky.

I was born.

My father is a university of Tennessee alum, I graduated from Tennessee in 2012. I moved up to Pennsylvania for grad school and met my husband, we stayed in Pennsylvania but I refuse to wear navy and white, I don't cheer the "We Are Penn State" cheer. I will quietly pull for them (usually when they are playing Ohio or Michigan) but most of time I just don't care one way or another.

My husband is a part of the alumni group and we often go to the Football Viewing Parties at a local bar and restaurant that sets aside a section for the Penn State Alumni group. I'm always the only one in orange, but they are good to me, they let me have a TV for the Tennessee game and will have friendly and some times passionate talks about SEC vs Big 10. They respect me for being a big football fan and some have even started paying attention to Tennessee if only because they know me and are interested.

But no one ever talks about Sandusky LOL. I want to though, I've quietly talked to a few people in the know at the university who have admitted it ran far deeper than what the official report states. Some have even admitted the Paterno knew, but most will never say so in public because that would bring the wrath of the rabid fanbase who cannot accept their idol knowingly hid a monster.

I have no such loyalty, thankfully my husband also agrees. He has no Paterno worship but simply keeps silent on the whole issue because he knows it would cause problems and he doesn't want to lose friendships. I can understand that.

But it doesn't stop me from fantasizing about just outing everything, mostly because sometimes I just want to watch the world burn.

And last year when Kentucky beat Penn State in the bowl game, I just kind of laughed and reminded them, "You don't bet against the SEC."

It was funny. When Franklin was hired I made a few warnings about him, he did some good at Vandy but some of that was also because they played way lesser quality opponents. I knew he could and would make some really stupid calls that could cost them games.

Its going to be interesting to see how they'll fare this year without Barkley. I think its possible if the season goes south, we will definitely see him in a hot seat if not out right fired.

Here's one thing I've always wondered. Why did anybody currently under the age of about say, 30 idolize Paterno? The last national title Paterno won was in 1986. The last title he "almost" won was 1994, which was also the last outright Big Ten title he won. From 2000 until he died, he finished the season unranked in the AP Poll 7 times in 12 years.

I get why the older fanbase thought of him as a god, but the younger fans, many of who rioted on campus when he was fired, never really personally saw him have an elite team outside of the 2005 season (tied for Big Ten title, won the Orange Bowl, finished #3). It seems like their younger fans, if anything, would have considered him old/washed up and wanted him forced into retirement in favor of a younger, more energetic, and dynamic head coach.

There’s a lot of nepotism at Penn State. It’s likely many of the young people grew up with parents who went to and/or were Penn State fans during the glory years.

He also just had a big presence, would show up to the tents where students camped out for tickets, often brought pizza. The library had his name on it etc.

But mostly you can chalk it up to the sheep mentality of college kids. They don’t know much, think they know everything and are happy to be outraged when someone tells them to be outraged without asking why.
