Penn State scandal (merged)

Ask the other kids that were molested due to the lack of involvement.
This isn't a 16 yr old McD's employee that saw his buddy stealing apple pies and reported it to his manager, then proceeded to go about his day.
The specific allegations and circumstances call for certain actions of ethics and morals, and anyone saying differently needs to sit down and think about it a little more.

Couldn't be more correct.

...and the apple pies analogy made me chuckle. I worked at a McDonalds way back in the day when I was 16 and we used to rail those pies...especially when they brought out the pumpkin or other various flavors. Off-topic I know, but it made me laugh.

He told higher up people than him therefore he did exactly what he is suppose to do in any business. What is not ethical about that?

If you see something going on at your company that is very very wrong and you report it to your boss and he does nothing with that information. Then you have a responsibility to move higher up the chain. The fact that he not only did nothing after Joe Pa dropped the ball, but in fact got a promotion and pay raise, raises serious doubts about your character

He didn't see anything.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but I heard an interesting comment on Denver sports radio yesterday. One of the guys was discussing the fact that Joe Pa and sandusky have known each other for over 30 years. With that being the case, what must sandusky know about Joe Pa's past that would keep him not only quiet about this for all these years, but that he would continue to allow him in Penn St. facilities with children!?

You guys are all nuts. Joe pa didn't let him use the facilities. It was in his retirement package.

He did move higher up the chain of command. Also he did not see he was told about it. Therefore if I was him I wold not go and make accusations that could be false. I would of told the, Director of Campus Safety & Enviromental Service, AD, then if that does not work you go to President of the university.

The pattern here is that kids are the ones arguing this point.

And Joe Pa, being such a big part of Penn State, should have said No. Child molesters don't belong around young men and women.

Yes there is.

Unless you can't figure out why Sandusky "retired."

So a guy is accused of something in 98. The attorney says he isn't going to prosecute due to lack of evidence or whatever. So penn state forces the guy to resign because it's not something u want to be associated w. he works out a nice retirement cuz he has t been charged or convicted of a crime.

How is this Paterno fault.

riiiight yet they deemed it appropriate to take his keys?

And are you kidding me Joe Pa didn't let him!? Joe Pa is Penn State. Those are his facilities he has the power to tell anyone, especially someone with these sorts of accusation, to gtfo.

If the new rumor is true I can start believing some of the stuff being told to us by the likes of Joe Pa and others.

This would go way above their heads and probably would not know what the hell to do because it seems like police departments would probably be involved in the cover up. Or people who you fear worse than the police.

But the whole missing DA thing makes the new rumor more plausible. Right now, if my name was on that honorary board list for Second Mile, I would be worried.
I saw the article on huffington post that references that story. It's really hard to believe they could have that many people involved.

My character? I'm with you guys that Jerry should get what is coming to him, but Joe Pa did what was ethically required of him.

You are nuts. Retirement package or not, if Joe Paterno wanted him banned because he knew he was, at the very least, groping little kids on campus, it would have taken 1 phone call and about 15 seconds for Sandusky to be carted off.

Seriously? Retirement package?
