Penn State scandal (merged)

This isn't about business ethics you asshat.

This is about victims. Stop your stupid argument.

Never said it wasn't about the victims dumbass. I'm tired of all the people on here saying that JP was obligated to tell the cia what was going on.

It is about ethics when people start trying to lay blame on a guy that did what he was suppose to do.

Did he know at the time that he wouldn't do anything about it?

Let's see: I would think he might have been able to figure out that nothing was going to happen after 3,650 days of doing nothing during which time the raper hung out daily at the football facilities.

I'm going to keep asking you this. Do you think the seriousness in which Paterno treated the information given to him in any way did justice to the seriousness of the information itself?

If he did what he was supposed to do, he wouldn't admit that he didn't and his ass wouldn't have been immediately fired.

Again, if you think not contacting the authorities is appropriate in that situation, that says a lot more about you than anything else.

Haha you are definitely running out of arguments. Didn't have to tell the CIA but maybe a little discussion with one of the sherriff's that escort him every freaking Saturday would've been nice.

He did move higher up the chain of command. Also he did not see he was told about it. Therefore if I was him I wold not go and make accusations that could be false. I would of told the, Director of Campus Safety & Enviromental Service, AD, then if that does not work you go to President of the university.

You've gotten off the track on this. You couldn't be more wrong in your asertions.

2002 doesn't happen in Penn States locker room if JoePa handled his business in 1998. The end.

I'm using 1998, but if I had to wager I 'd guess this was known long before then.

Oh really it doesn't happen there? What if it happen somewhere else? Like say maybe the Ad's Office. But hey JP should of known about that too. JP should of known about all the cases that happen off campus on campus, in the basketball locker, soccer locker room. JP should of told the CIA, FBI, Defense Secretary, PETA.

Your gonna see a lot of people go down with this and the least of the worries is gonna be JP.

This is gonna be a massive cover that probably starts at the top.

We're going to after all of them, genius. You don't sit back and watch tons of kids get victimized and then try to hide behind, "aww shucks guys, I reported to the AD that I knew wouldn't do anything about it. So, I'm in the clear and it's just too damn bad about those 20-30 10 year old kids that were raped in the facilities while I watched the raper enter said facility to engage in the act." You have very serious problems, my friend.

Just a question for someone in law school, I'm not defending Joe Pa at all.

Legally, after talking to the person ahead of him in the chain of command, he's in the clear, as of the law in 2002 correct?

I don't know Pennsylvania's laws on this. When did it become a federal law that you must call the police if you see something like this?

Once again, I'm defending Paterno. I assume he had to know Sandusky was a sicko.

in your business would you allow an admitted child abuser/pedophile continued access to your building and allow him to use your facilities for the next decade to host a kids charity? Is that doing everything ethically possible to handle the situation?

No... JP should have told the police. Not the campus police. The big boy popo.

It's hindsight I would almost guarantee he had no idea what really happened. He even admitted w hindsight he wishes he would have done more.

OH. MY. GOD. Are your analytical thinking skills that bad? Read your freaking post, man. The phrase "wishes he had done more" says it all. He didn't say he wished he had known about all this. He didn't say he wished he had done SOMETHING. He says he wished he had done MORE. He knew enough. Jesus Christ, dude...get a clue.

Interesting. I can't wait to see Ohio State & Penn State competing with one another to hire a coach. To think that OSU can now sell itself as the "cleaner" program, because all it covered up was illegal benefits.

BTW They ought to fire the whole lot of them. Kudos to the Board of Trustees for breaking the Code of Silence.

Wooooooohhhhhhhh now don't bring that in here because this guy should of told the CIA.

Most people agree that he acted as he should have LEGALLY. But morally, it's gross that he didn't make sure it didn't happen again.

I'm unsure of the criminal negligence laws in Pennsylvania.
