Penn State scandal (merged)

With all due respect, you don't have a clue what you would have done in McQueary's situation, and unless you are in your 70's, a WWII veteran, and a 50 year employee and Head Football Coach at Penn State you don't have a clue what you would have done. Its all just wild speculation.

All those reasons are why most sane people feel he should've done more. One would assume a man with those credentials would have the character to do the right thing. Guess we all know what they say about assuming...

I think it's clear they forced him to resign. That's on the attorney not paterno

Paterno gave him an office and allowed him to use the football facillities with his foundation children.

A former player said this morning that Sandusky was there all the time from 2003-2006.

You and the other guy have really dug yourselves into a hole with your foolishness.

It's not a hole. A bunker from the crazy mob.

Absolutely agree. But the poster I was replying to was saying that JP was being crucified without having had the opportunity to speak out and defend himself. And that's just crap.

Again, you guys dont have a clue what you're talking about. I agree he "could" have done more, but as usual you guys are missing the bigger story here.

I am quite sure that this whole episode going back to 98 is absolutely abhorrent to Paterno, I've also been to State College and I doubt many around here have. Not much there but the university. I also doubt that the subject of pedophilia is directly in Joe's wheelhouse. Its pretty obvious that JP wanted to stay as far away from this as possible and allow the administration to get their hands dirty if necessary. Now, is that doing everything.... no. Do I believe that JP intentionally avoided getting his hands dirty.... yes. But still, this is a massive coverup, bigger than a lot of people recognize and your focus on stringing up Paterno is all wrong. Sorry.

Many need to be strung up, but Paterno is definitely one of them. I have no sympathy for the man.

I agree with you completely on the massive cover up. Paterno's head is not the only one that with roll on this, but it's clear he could have done more and to think that Joe Paterno doesn't have a large standing up there is assonine. He had to go.

Yep. Some of our posters are quite sad.

Not Sad, but pathetic?

I cannot see how a rational, educated person, cannot look at the facts of the case and see that when you allow a person that has committed such crimes to continue to be around the campus and facilities, is somehow not partially responsible.
