I wonder the real number on kids he molested. I also wonder if anybody signed onto the class action for the money grab.

I still can't believe people knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it.

I agree the NCAA are tools but it's funny how people are asking for their penalties to be softened up when stuff keeps coming out.

Because this should only be a criminal matter. I'm sorry I don't find the use in punishing a bunch of people who had nothing to do with Penn State at the time for some sickos horrible behavior and the horrible negligence of a few others.

Penn St should be penalized into bankruptcy over this (that's hyperbole for any academic douches here) but punishing current players is well beyond moronic.

What happened was absolutely deplorable, but I never understand why people think seeking money is the best course of action.

Not sure what else you can get besides money...free tix to a game would probably not go over well. And taking money somehow hurts them.

Money talks. Throw one or two or several officials in jail or fire them, someone else on the same page as them will take their place. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Hit them in the wallet, costing them several tens of millions of dollars and damaging their brand image, gets their attention a whole lot more and might make future leaders of an institution more cautious, less likely to do something illegal, and much more likely to jump on something and throw a guilty party under the bus if someone does something again.

Had Sandusky been fired, and thrown under the bus way back when, it would have been a minor headline for a few weeks and then outside the local area quickly forgotten by most people.

Instead, Joe Pa died with his image ruined, Sandusky is rotting in jail, and three other Penn State officials are now looking at significant jail time as well. Even for some others not facing job loss or jail time, I'm guessing quite a few people have seen future career and/or political advancement becoming considerably less likely over this.
