The Auburn presser is on right now. Tubbs resigned and was asked 3 times to reconsider. If he had not resigned, he would still be the coach.

Tubbs will stay on with the university in some capacity and he will receive his payout.

if he wasn't fired why is he getting his buyout?

The official statement is "it was the right thing to do". They also said it's reward and payment for him to stick around for a while.

Lot's of questions here.

So did CPF.

Seriously, he negotiated his buyout and thus the "resignation". AU would have been on the hook for all of the contracted amount if he was officially "fired".

Apparently, Tubbs is getting all of the contracted amount.

From my perspective, this is different than the Fulmer case. Fulmer did not want to go. I think Tubbs was ready to go -- Auburn was probably ready for him to go to.

Believe it or not, Chris Low reported that Auburn is interested in Houston Nutt.

i've heard Auburn has sent feelers to Petrino, that they contacted Mike Leach to guage interest and that they are dead set on pursuing Muschamp a la TN and Butch Davis.

i don't think he can, if what i read is true, petrino signed a no compete clause meaning he couldn't leave for another SEC school..........it would be very costly to get Petrino away from Ark to another SEC school.
