LeBronny James will make $5.1 million in NIL deals.

I know that this line of thinking could be applicable and possibly disproved elsewhere, from corporate life to even professional leagues, but I can't help but wonder if such a pronounced NIL compensation disparity between Bronny (presumably great, perhaps even Naismith-level) and other stars of similar caliber at XXXX University who are pulling in significantly will create some kind of huge rift that messes with team chemistry.

I mean I probably won’t either, but there is a reason for that lol. There are people in this world that make WAY more than that because of who their daddy is.
I don’t know why everyone makes a big deal about over bloated NIL deals anyway. I mean it’s not like it’s our money being invested, at least none of mine, so I can’t see any reason in it bothering me. If UT pays him 5.1 mil, then I would guess Barnes thinks he is good and not because of his name.

These kids have been playing basketball year round since they could walk. They’re in the club of get what you can get. The fact that their teammate was born into a high tax bracket doesn’t hurt.

Oh, it is definitely a "chemistry" issue. It puts a HUGE amount of presser on an NIL player to perform - which can lead to selfish decisions in a game. It also puts a lot of pressure on the NIL's coach to play the guy ALL THE TIMEI And I don't care how nice of a guy an NIL player might be - if I'm sitting on the bench as a walk-on, or just another scholarship player and THAT guy is getting paid millions -- I wouldn't be happy. So, then it's time to sew my wild oats in the transfer portal & see if I can get some cash, too..... Bottom line: If an NIL player turns out to be great - it still casts a bad shadow on everybody around him. -- And if an NIL players turns out ton be a a "bust" it makes the whole program look bad. Player, other players, coaches, athletic dept, boosters, administration, entire school.

I get he gets lots of hype cause of his dad, but let’s not bag on him cause of his dad either. He’s a kid we know nothing about. Nothing to say that he’s “entitled” or a “diva” other than the fact his family is well off and his dad isn’t well liked on this board

Not a fan of drawing assumptions on a kid simply because we may carry polarizing opinions on how his dad plays the game. I may disagree with LBJ's reaction to refs, flops, political comments, etc. But there's absolutely no reason to question his ability as a father, business man, kid who came up from areas that a lot of people never come out of. LBJ, like him or not, will be a Top All-Time player in league history. That's all great and yes there will be expectations and a level of media with today's social media climate on his son. By all accounts, Bronny has kept his head on straight, plays at a decently high level and could be a good college player in time. Jury is still out.

I don't see Barnes letting a parent run his program or even have much of a say in how it's ran and thus far, LBJ has shown minimal involvement outside of obviously offering funds and notoriety to the prep program he plays for. Do I like him jumping in layup lines? No. Do I like his complaining to refs as a parent? No. But heck, I've seen local HS parents of kids who sit the bench all season go WAAAAY further than that in games.

Do I think he will come here? Nope. Do I think Barnes would recruit him? Don't know. If Barnes did and he committed to being here would I fret about chemistry or the team/program dynamic? Nope. I trust Barnes and his team to fully evaluate that situation should it present itself.

Let's move on.

For the record I love the kids getting paid,no reason he shouldn't name or not.Just 5 million is a lot of cash, but I understand the landscape and how this thing works, the image and all that.Irs like signing a celebrity, you just hope teammate etc are all on board. Envy jealousy greed are all around no matter how good u are or what u make etc.Np with kids getting paid though, need a system something. The $$ amounts are just getting insane anymore.

I would imagine he'll take care of his teammates much like Deion's son has done. $5m is nothing to him.
