What exactly did Perry Jones do to warrant a harsher penalty than Jim Calhoun or the players and coaches at Ohio State?

That seems to me something that the N.C.A.A. ought to promptly step up and explain after having made Jones sit out what may have been his last college game.

Exactly. I think Sen Oran Hatch was sniffing up the right tree when he threatened the NCAAs Anti Trust Exemptions. Time to revisit? Ken Starr might think so.

You assume that a) he's NBA ready which this season didn't prove and b) there will not be a lock-out. You also overlook the hypocrisy of the NCAA.

18-13 won't get you to the big show but taking Jones out of the line up gives them zero chance of making a run in the Big XII toureny. Two years ago they made a run to the finals with a bubble team that didn't go dancing. No Jones=No Dance just as No Cam Newton=No BCS Title. One was allowed to play and the other not so much...
