To take a break from all the coaching speculation, thought it'd be fun to discuss what the new coach will inherit.

Assuming we make a competent above average hire and we get a decent recruiting class (top 20, 2-3 contribute immediately)...

I'm torn on D, thought it was hopeful that the D played well in the first halves of Missouri and Vandy. But the glaring lack of speed and second half depth is a concern.

On O much seems to ride on Bray, Hunter and CP staying. We definitely lose awesome weapons in Rivera and Rogers. Our RBs are decent, neither really showcase backs but they are improving. Our line should be awesome and our strength.

Overall I don't see us competing for championships but 7-8 wins are possible based on the talent. What say ya'll?

Probably 6-6 is realistic. Very tough schedule. New coach new system, Miss st and Mizzou and Vandy will continue to improve. Back to a four-three defense will help some.

I honestly believe if we have a big time hire we can get 2 out of 3 to stay. Also our d will be much improved. If we can a physical team next year we will be good

I truly don't believe that we are as far away as most people think. We have injured players coming back that will help us. The biggest thing is they need to be coached up more. No one can convince me that our atheletes are as bad as the product on the field this year! We lost very little from the 2011 defense and they kept us in most games, and now we have no D at all...C'mon Man! Our offense is not very consistant and I believe that has alot to do with the coaches as well. Everyone look back at the last 2 years. We are in every game at the half. Opponents adjust and we just roll with what we did the first half and you have seen the results. Just look at 2011 2nd half stats. We didn't even score offensively in the second half of most of the games down the stretch. Even against MTSU...we put up 24 in the 1st half and 0 in the 2nd half. That is not our talent folks...thats bad coaching. the right guy with a few key recruits can get us right back into competition! Not win it all but at least make us be respected again!

I'm looking at a 5-7 for next year. It's not going to be pretty at all with the tough schedule that we face. :drive2:

O-experienced line, experienced RBs, soph tight end and some potential at WR (Dallas will. be solid, Croom should show up. Both QBs (Worley and Peterman) will compete for playing time and give us viable options. We have a good chance at being very balanced and strong on O.

D-experienced front 7 should be a plus. More experience in the back field will help alleviate a lot of stupidity happening back there. Biggest challenge will be the scheme--simple will be better...

You have, I believe, a great grasp on the situation. With our horrendous 2013 schedule, we will not win SECC, or NC, but... with the right coaching staff, I think we will be seriously competing in every game.

I do believe we have a better chance of a winning record with Dooley gone... that is, if Hart makes the right hire.

All online will return except Thomas. Basically top 2 online in SEC. Bray will stay unless we do a bad hire. Hunter is gone, he's got a kid to feed. The RBs are good, d-line is solid with good coaching.

We aren't that far off with good coaching and play calling. We won't win SEC next year, but 5-3 in SEC possible and 3-1 in non conf.

Exactly my thoughts, other teams seemed to make half time adjustments and our coaches seemed to lack that ability.

I dont care so much about overall record, I just want to see some quality wins. I want to see sec wins. I want to see us beat at least 1 rival, and im not talking about vandy. Vandy and ky should still be considered a given. Id also be happy if we could just get our arses to a bowl game. Shoot, id even take the bob's mailorder boneless chicken wings.com bowl

We will out talent 5 teams on our schedule(AP, WKU, S. Bama, Vandy, UK), be about even with 2(Aub and Mizzou) and be at a disadvantage to 5(Bama, Ore, UGA, UF, Scar). First year coach I'll be happy with 7-5 and very good recruiting and competitiveness.

It all depends on who we hire and how quickly their system is adopted here

The schedule is the schedule. It is essentially the same schedule year to year + Oregon. Kelly is rumored to be going to the NFL. It's time UT played some damned football and quit whining about the schedule! WIN WIN WIN!

Two new Systems on O & D, tougher schedule - 7-5 is the best I expect. Hopefully a staff full of Rock Stars will pleasantly surprise me.

I think Bray is the most likely to return, Hunter next but unlikely. If you believe the posts about his schoolwork, CP couldn't play next year even if he wanted to.

7 wins should be a minimum requirement (6-6 would be acceptable only if we won our bowl game = 7 wins). No more losing seasons. I'm tired of them.

Rucker said something like "Brooklyn Decker topless couldn't convice CP to come back next year." I also think Hunter is gone, he has a kid to provide for.
