Mascia or Russell could see playing time as the number 2 catcher when Santiago needs a day off while Derkey recuperates.

Derkey's injury does not affect TN catching since
CTV has stated from day 1 of fall ball that Benito Santiago is their starting catcher, Mascia or Russell can see some playing time when Santiago needs a day off. Derkey has been practicing 1st base and outfield, hoping for a speedy recovery as the team needs him the lineup. :)

Looks like Derkey will be a 100% and ready to go come opening day, And Benito has been doing a good job behind the plate,,,,In my opinion i think Benito will start opening day, any thoughts on friday starter???? Lingo, Neely, Stallings, Just wondering??? Also on a different note the First Pitch Banquet was awesome!!!! I would have liked Augie to talk a little bit longer....But All in All great Night!!!! Go Vols!!!!!

Yes, that would be the obvious choice. I think if you polled ten people, he would probably 9 out of 10 peoples choice. Im really looking forward to seeing the team play next friday,,,just want to see progress and excitement!
