Peyton Manning

Great post. Do you teach a class in debate tactics?

Actually my post wasn't directed at you but since you responded, in all fairness you need to let us know the team and qb you pull for, making it a level playing field, secondly the Colts are not a one man team, they do need edge to win, third the helpless Titans are my team. I stick with Steve McNair all the way, win or lose. I like to see Peyton and all Vols do well in the NFL. :eek:k:

The Colts got knocked out again by a physical team. Until the Colts get over finesse and become big mean and nasty they will not win the big one IMO.

I agree that the Colts improvement wasn't solely attributable to Edge. However, I do think he's an elite back who would thrive anywhere. That's what elite backs do. Look at the impressive numbers Corey Dillon put up with some wretched Bengals units. Also, we have to keep in mind that he's doing all this after a serious knee injury. I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat.

But clearly the Edge can't win the big one - how many Superbowls does he have... :biggrin2:

Hopefully just a matter of time. He is definately one of the best QB's to play the game but problem is getting over the hump. Other great NFL QB's also never got a Superbowl win. Hope Peyton does.

I'm a woman, not a girl.

Marino could scramble a whole heck of a lot better than Manning. Marino could throw the ball more precise than Manning. Marino will always be better than Manning.

Sorry about the girl thing. Nothing bad meant, kinda like saying come on boys.
But there is no way anyone who is not emotionally involved could argue that Marino could either scramble or was more precise than Manning. The whole thing that made Marino hard to sac was his quick release. He was a great QB but I would not say he was better than PM. There are more similarities than differences in the two.

i agree with that 100%. it's been said a lot during his career, that PM is this generations DM....and that comparison will stick until he WINS the SB....an appearance w/a loss will only solidify the comparison...

Right...no Edge, no Vanderjagt, and that O-Line who just loved being thrown under the bus by Peyton...see how much protection he gets next year.

Go away troll!

Sounds like some of the same who dog out Fulmer for using platitudes and not calling out coaches and players get bothered when PM briefly talked his line not performing well.

Please pick a position and stick with it. :nener:

Very good point! But they can't. It doesn't fit with the emotional side fo their argument/rant.

We will just have to agree to disagree because my opinion is totally opposite from yours.

Or those who call out anyone who complains about their team....we can't forget those who think griping about team performance is evil.

With the ENTIRE season going quite smoothly & PM's O line protecting him to the end. It now appears he's not man enough to admit he made some major mistakes and put his o line under the bus.

MAJOR MISTAKE!

MAJOR MISTAKE!

Some quotes about the quotes.

"All I know is to keep working, to come back next year and be a better quarterback, a better leader," -- Manning

Sunday was one of those rare times when he admitted his protectors on the line had issues. For all his skills as a passer and playmaker, Manning can be rattled when his blockers, well, don't block.

Unless they fix those -- other than center Jeff Saturday, the Colts' line is mediocre

So we have 1) an admission that he didn't play well. 2) Acknowledgement that PM rarely if ever has been anything but a team player, 3) acknowledgement by observers that the line didn't do it's job in the game AND isn't a great O-line to begin with and

3) the comments - of PM that are characterized as throwing the line under the bus:

I'm looking for a safe word here, I don't want to be a bad teammate," Manning said. "Pittsburgh gave us trouble and put us in some situations we're not usually in."

Man, what an ass.

I hear what your saying bham, and agree with you, but i will say this, and i love PM, but he did say "let's just say we had some protection issues". which was prefaced by "i don't want to be a bad teammate", which implies that he had an opinion of a teammate that he didnt' think would be viewed as favorable to the media....but just by saying the "don't want to be a bad team mate", well, he did just that. And i see why people are making it in to a big thing.

is it really a big thing though? no. I was watching Inside the NFL on HBO last night, and they had the Colts' OLine coach mic'd on the sideline, and after one of the series', he said "you guys are sh__ing in your helmets out there, you, and you yeah you, c'mon!!!"

So, it wasn't like no one else could see it or that the Oline didn't know it either....

The media baited PM into that comment! He shoulda known better, but I think he has learned his lesson!

Come on lets be sensible, these interviews take place when your emotions are still taking over your mind.

Why do you think these interview sessions are so quickly after the game?

The press would not have any thing to discuss all week, ala sports radio, if these guys take the time to calm down.

I will end this thread by saying, good ole Peyton will be back next year tearin up defenses as usual & next year he will get his Superbowl Ring!!! :dance2:
