He's not the greatest NFL QB, yet. I still think that honor goes to John Elway.

The 2 Johns were very good but I would take PM over them if all are in their prime. #16 is and was the greatest. Thank you Peyton.

Elway never had the talent around him like Montana did throughout his career.

Elway goes 8-0 in the big game if he's on those 49er teams.

Broncos might see 2 Super Bowls with Montana.

Im dealing with FACTS, not speculation.

Maybe if crybaby Elway had joined the Baltimore Colts, instead of throwing a tantrum, threatening to go to daddy Steinbrenner, he might have had 10 SB wins.

We could play this all day guys.

Fact is, the greatest QB ever has never lost a SB.

A little more on topic....I really don't want Peyton's number to be retired. He's pretty much the greatest SEC QB of the past 15 years, but I like the idea of having his number out there. It's kind of like the way the Bammers have the #12. #16 at UT should mean something (especially for young recruits).

I dont mind it. I think retiring numbers is a great way to show those who have gave it their all for Tennessee, to be remembered forever.

I agree that we should remember those who gave their all for UT, but that list would probably leave no number left for the current players to wear. I highly doubt that Petyon would mind someone else wearing the #16 jersey.

Yeah. I thought of that as I wrote it. We could still go to retiring numbers and not have any left.

you dont retire everyone good. it will take hundreds of years to retire everynumber if you only retire people worthy of the honor.

peyotn is one.

In the storied history of UT, it wouldnt take much to retire every nubmer from 1 to 99.

Make no mistake...Peyton is one of THE greatest QBs in SEC history. I definitely think he deserves to be honored with his name and # on the stadium walls, but I also like to see the number carry on as inspiration for another player to play his heart out. But, I have no real beef with retiring #16. If anyone deserves it, Peyton does.

it would take a while. we dont have as many retiring number worthy. the people whose numbers you retire are supposed to be argueably one of the best in the whole college sport at their postion.
