Both suck...a lot. But Phil Collins gets the edge for this gem:

Alright I will. I actually only know 2 songs by Billy Joel - Piano Man and We Didn't Start The Fire
Come on. Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, Only the Good Die Young, Allentown, Downeaster Alexa, New York State of Mind, Still Rock n Roll To Me, Big Shot, You May Be Right, In the Middle of the Night, You're Only Human, Keepin the Faith.

Top of my head. He has many more.

I'm going with Collins if I can count his work with Genesis. Joel never did something as incredible as "That's All" or "Invisible Touch".

Piano Man, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, Pressure, Back in the USSR, Ballad of Billy the Kid, The Longest Time, River of Dreams, Lullaby, All For Leyna, No Man's Land

Billy Joel has one of the most incredible discographies of the last 30+ years

Those are awful Genesis albums, musically speaking of course. I know they were POPULAR, but didn't carry the musical depth of early Genesis work. In fact, Phil Collins RUINED Genesis by making them a pop band in the 80s.
There wasn't an album worth putting the Genesis name on after Steve Hackett left. It should have been called Banks, Collins and Rutherford.

That being said, I will go with Billy Joel

Sorry, 2iron, but you're just acting like everyone else who says that Genesis was better before Collins took over. Somehow an army of purists love Gabriel's Genesis, yet they didn't sell any records.

They sold enough. Record sales doesn't necessarily equate to good music.

They were clearly better from a musicianship standpoint

Genesis was great, but I'm just going to compare them as solo artists in which case Joel wins by a big margin.

Billy Joel is one of the most diverse musicians/song writers ever in the pop industry. Classically trained pianist, proficient in doo wop, rock, jazz, etc. Nobody plays a piano like Billy, and nobody has the attitude and the personality that he does either. Billy Joel has songs that were never considered hits that smoke anything Phil Collins has ever done.

Everybody Loves You Now
Root Beer Rag
Miami 2017
Vienna Waits
Christie Lee
Easy Money
Innocent Man
I've Loved These Days
Angry Young Man
Zanzibar
Stop In Nevada
Traveling Prayer
Somewhere Along the Line
Weekend Song

This was off the top of my head, and there are countless more where those came from.

These are songs that most casual music listeners have probably never heard, but these are GREAT tunes. There is way more to Billy Joel than Piano Man, Scenes from an Italian Restaraunt, and Don't Ask Me Why.
