Just a few thoughts after the PF show:

1. First and most obvious, the QB situation. What can you say? Ainge is obviously the more physically-gifted, but what difference does it make when you play so poorly and foolishly? For the second time this year, Clausen comes in and leads us back out of the early-game quagmire. Defend Erik all you want, but this week, he had a full game behind him and knew he was the "starter." NOW, what's the excuse? I don't have an answer, but I know he's got major problems that, quite frankly, I'm not sure can be fixed.

2. Our defense gave us a glimpse of what our record would be if they had played only "average" all year. Thank goodness they decided to play better in the second half.

3. How was that not grounding? Were the refs blinded by the afternoon sun?

4. What a catch by Briscoe. THE PLAY of the year for our receivers. Amazing what happens when you lay out and WANT the football, eh?

5. Fulmer said, during the second TD drive: "Coach Sanders did a great job calling this whole series." Did I miss something?

6. Our O-line continues to get manhandled on the run. I know Foster finished over a hundred yards, but between the tackles, we got nada all day long.

7. Anyone else glad that DeAngelo Williams was out?

8. Whew. First "W" in 6 weeks.

Doc, do you see any 19 year olds? Ainge needs a referral to a good psychiatrist, and the team needs a good referral to group counseling.

The play-calling is a group effort right now until the end of the season.
I think we'd have won more easily if Williams played. With him out, we didn't know what they were gonna do, we were unprepared. With Williams in, we know we'd get a steady diet of him, and no one is gonna run on us.

im with you Jmxvol i think it would have been much easier with williams in the game because thats all the tigers would
have done was give it to DeAngelo up the middle off tackle with a few dump passes out of the backfield but it would have been all #20!

yeah this is the first of the highlights i have seen. i had to work so i had to listen to Kesling(ouch).

the briscoe catch would be even better if the sun wasnt blocking the light, so u cant see it that well.

and like it or not. Sanders is still calling the majority of the plays.

and Ainge is like a deer in the headlights. he is lost man.

and after the game all the players said that rick is just a smoother qb. this could have completely broken Ainge's back.

Dont' you think Ainge was broken before? His TD-INT ratio is horrible.

And I agree, I listened to the game on the radio, and I think this was the worst broadcast I've ever heard out of Kesling. It was hard to follow the game.

yeah. kesling have the time doesnt say what happens other than that the guy was tackled.

he lets every play hang and hang like something major is going on. then he is like "two yard run"

it would have been nice, if they would have considered doing a nationwide search to replace Ward instead of hiring the guy next door.

I have been an Ainge supporter, but it's time to put Rick in and let him finish the season for better or worse. Like I said in another thread, keeping Ainge in right now might be doing him more harm than good. Wait till the offseason and see if anyone can coach him back. Clausen is good enough to give us the chance to win against Vandy and UK.

Our defense gave us a glimpse of what our record would be if they had played only "average" all year. Thank goodness they decided to play better in the second half.

And thank goodness that the Memphis receivers caught our don't catch the ball virus too. Chavis made some good adjustments in the second half, but Memphis just started making bad passes and dropping the ball.

How was that not grounding? Were the refs blinded by the afternoon sun?

I thought that the refs missed some holding calls against Memphis too. You can't tell me their OL was holding on for dear life against our DLine....

What a catch by Briscoe. THE PLAY of the year for our receivers. Amazing what happens when you lay out and WANT the football, eh?

Briscoe is going to be a good player for us. He has the tools but better yet, he uses them so he can catch a ball. Our other receivers looked a little better yesterday.

Fulmer said, during the second TD drive: "Coach Sanders did a great job calling this whole series." Did I miss something?

DOH!! I know that we can't do this all the time but it seems that the toss sweeps and outside runs work a lot better than the up the middle, up the middle. There was a stretch where we just ran up the middle too much. For the love of God, take it outside some!!

Our O-line continues to get manhandled on the run. I know Foster finished over a hundred yards, but between the tackles, we got nada all day long.

See the above comment....

Anyone else glad that DeAngelo Williams was out?

I was but Kevin Simon wasn't. He said that you always want to play against their players. This season I disagree, if Williams was in, he would have been good for at least another TD. That wouldn't have been good for us.

Whew. First "W" in 6 weeks.

Yep, we got the win. It was close....too close. It was still frustrating to watch, our offense is still terrible for the most part. Morely fumbled a kickoff and gave us bad field position 2 or 3 times when he should have taken a knee, penalties from our defense at key times, Memphis fumbled...we picked it up and fumbled...giving them 1st down after a 30 yard loss, and it goes on and on. But we escaped with a close victory and it's time to look on to Vandy. :ninja:
