Phil Steele has Tenn at #23

He really has no way to judge us because he goes off stats from previous seasons and strength of schedule. We have an entire new offensive staff so where else would put us because he doesn't know what kind of offense we will have.

A lot of his stats still apply, regardless of coaching change. Still, I think 23 is low. Top 16ish.

so far he's the only person i've seen to rank Cal in the top-25.

I think Cal *could* finish 3rd in the Pac 10, 2nd with some breaks. Your Bears lost a lot to the draft, but that's the only negative. Statistically, Cal was the 4th best team in the Pac 10.

Remember, I was dead on about Oregon, Cal, and Arizona State's overall seasons last year.

What's the latest on your stadium situation?

the lawsuit is awaiting the final decision by the judge which should come soon. it looks likely that we will win and break ground by the start of the season.

Oh i give you big props for your predictions last year. I think the pac-10 will be down this year and with our favorable home schedule i think a 2nd or 3rd place finish is certainly possible. My prediction has been 9-3. If riley starts the sky is the limit. Cal has a lot of talent returning on defense and still have quite a bit of talent on offense (though very young talent). If we can manage the early schedule, by the end of the season we will be very good. What people don't realize is Cal still has the second best talent in the pac-10 due to the consistant top-20 recruiting classes over the last 4 years (oregon probably has better talent on offense, but not defense and the rest of the pac-10 has not been consistant in recruiting). These pollsters look at our crapout last year, see we have some guys get drafted, and then assume that means we are going to stink.

Oregon should be decent, but their schedule stinks and the QB situation is a big issue. ASU doesn't get 8 home games this year and i'm not buying them as a legit BCS contender. Oregon State loses a lot of defensive talent and their QBs stink. SC will be good as always of course.

Yes, good point. Every other year, Cal's P10 schedule is haaaard. I meant to add that, but forgot to

Plus, what would have normally been a tough away game in Corvalis is winnable this year because OSU lost so much.

Man dude, how come it takes so long to get the treetards out of the branches. Breaking ground right now would be much better for you guys.

the treetards aren't actually delaying anything. the city sued the university because the city is filled with wackos who are convinced the university is expanding too much and the city generally just hates the university. the treetards, while making good press, actually haven't stopped anything. the second the judge rules in our favor they will be removed.
