Saw this the other day, after the spring race at Phoenix it'll be repaved and reconfigured to look like Iowa.

If you say so, but all that corn isn't going to grow too well in the desert.

I would hate to have any unique tracks left on the schedule. What's next? Pocono, Darlington, or Martinsville?

I love racing at Iowa, but still if you want that style of racing why not actually race there?

This is my point. Now every track designed will be progressively banked and Iowa will no longer be unique. Just like around 10-15 years ago. Everyone fell in love with the 1.5-2 mile cookie cutters. How did that turn out?

What a shame. Phoenix is one of the few unique tracks left on the schedule. I really question the direction this sport is going.

They shut down Rockingham, take a race away from Darlington all in the name of expanding to the "cookie cutter" tracks as some have named them. Now another distinctive track is to be homogenized. Think about this the next time you guys start to dis Pocono and road courses. It is their uniqueness that I like.

Pocono just isn't conducive to exciting racing imo. I agree about the overall lack of diversity around the circuit though.

I don't diss road courses anymore. As a matter fact I kind of like them. However, if Pocono fell into a giant sinkhole today, I wouldn't miss it.

I still don't like Pocono. :p

Pocono - three unique totally distinctive turns, three unique totally different straights including the longest in NASCAR. Combines the feel of running a road course, a short track, and the drafting of a super speedway. Usually provides close racing with some of the most lead changes outside of Talladega/Daytona, and some of the closest finishes. I do not understand.

I have no problem with Phoenix reconfiguring to be more similar to Iowa. Iowa is not on the Cup schedule - they may eventually get a date if they add significant seating but not in the pipeline. I've never been a big fan of Phoenix - just not enough banking to produce good side by side racing. Some of the Nationwide and Truck races at Iowa have been really good.

I think Pocono has a place the way it is but wish they just had one race instead of two.

I love the road courses - wish we had 2 more on the schedule!

Pocono has 3 turns based off of 3 different tracks. It takes great car control to get around the place. Not to mention the drafting opportunities.

It's not the track, its the race distance.

When they get strung out (which will happen at some point), it becomes real snoozer. Cut out 150-200 miles and maybe you avoid that.

Should only haver one race too.

Agree whole-heartedly. At Pocono, shorter=better.

I have long advocated shorter races everywhere with the exception of Daytona 500, World 600, Talladega 500 and Brickyard 400.

I agree with that except I say keep the short tracks the same distance as well. 500 laps can fly by at Martinsville and Bristol.

fuel milage, several cars usually get off sequence, 3 different corners....It's just different than the 1.5 mile cookie cutter tracks. I agree it should be 400 miles but I don't mind it having 2 races.

Pocono and Michigan/California are the three most boring tracks on the schedule.... The only way to improve pocono is to cut that track in half so it isn't such a snoozer. Make it a mile and a quarter track with three different turns if you want it unique.

Penske is an ******* for handing over such great tracks to the maulers at ISC. Please, ISC, quit ruining racing for the rest of us.
