Figured I'd try and do one of these for each game I go to. Tried a new angle for this game. Got there early and nabbed a front row court-side... right beside Gus Manning.

Enjoy!

what type camera do you use? what power zoom? Great Pics

thanks. These are done with a Canon Rebel XTi and a Canon 100mm Macro 2.8. It's not an ideal setup for sports but it's all I got. I'm selling some things and saving up some cash for a 70-200 2.8 Sigma though. Maybe a Canon if I raise enough funds.

Awesome. I've been thinking about buying a DSLR. I love to see great pictures. I need to save up before vacation.

Great Pics! I can't help but notice that in the background, there doesn't seem to be many butts in the seats. Is this typical for an opening night game against a lower tier team?

Great pics. I was going to ask what your setup was.

I have a Canon EOS 7D. I mainly use the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 lens. Fantastic lens. Pricey, but is incredible in low light gyms. Occasionally, I use a 50mm 1.4 fixed, but the zoom lens is more flexible even though it weighs quite a bit.

Do you normally shoot in manual mode? What iso do you use?

Yeah, I might have to hold off for the Canon... the Sigma seems nice, but focus speed and precision probably isn't on par.

Yep, manual mode. At 2.8 1/640, I have to bump up to ISO 3200. Then I'll switch between 1/640 and 1/800 depending on the light (those advertisement banner screens are annoying). This is where I'd love to have that 7d... ISO1600 or 3200 is really noisy on the XTi.

You continue to impress....as well, you have a knack to get front row seating. You are putting heat on the UT photo guys. Nice work.
