The two meet in a game that not only has major implications for the ACC Coastal Division race (as UVA, VT, and Pitt are all 5-2, 4-2, and 4-2 in ACC play, respectively) but also major implications for a New Years 6 Bowl game bid, as the Orange Bowl contractually has to take the next highest ranked ACC team if the ACC Champion (i.e., Clemson) is in the CFP semifinals...and even if the rest of the ACC is unranked, the CFP committee (presumably) will have to determine which team that should actually be between ACC members Virginia Tech (7-3), UVA (7-3), Wake Forest (7-3) and Pitt (7-3).
All that said, VT has pretty much righted the ship from the early parts of this season and been in control of this game: it's currently 21-0 Hokies with 11:47 left in the 3rd quarter. Potentially setting up the Commonwealth Cup next week to determine the Coastal winner and possibly an Orange Bowl bid.
