1. Tennessee has a solid case to make for being ranked Number One. Nobody has accomplished more to this point.
2. Pitt isn't as good as they were two years ago. After seeing their lack of perimeter quickness up close, I'm hard pressed to see them as a Final Four team.
3. Karron Abraham is as much fun to watch as any player in America. Here's hoping Robert Morris wins the Northeast so he gets another crack at the NCAA Tournament.
4. West Virginia has bigger ballhandling problems than Tennessee. If they make the NCAAs, it'll be one of Huggs' better coaching efforts.
5. Rutgers will be in the top third of the Big East in two years. Mike Rice is going to win huge there.
6. Tony Barbee will do well at Auburn, but it's going to take awhile. Their roster wouldn't be good in the SWAC.
7. If you want to gauge how good the Big East is or isn't, check where St. John's lands in the standings. If they are in the top half, the league isn't very good.
8. One of the best coaching jobs of the year is being done by Steve Donahue. Boston College is winning far more than their roster merits.
9. Pittsburgh's a neat city. I could see why someone would live here.
10. Jeremy Foley has taken leave of his senses. He just hired a slightly more polished version of Ed Orgeron to be the head coach of one of the Cadillac programs in college football.

Not basketball related, but who do you take between Muschamp and Dooley. IIRC, you hated the idea of either coaching UT last year.

I know it's still early, but have any predictions about this teams final record?

They are better than everyone else on the schedule. If they play to this level all season it would be hard to imagine them dropping more than 3 games in conference play.

I'd say we are def a top5 team @ this point. However, I believe we will be in the 6-9 range. Probably 7th. We'll know soon.

I don't think they deserve to be number 1. Duke is the defending champ and has yet to lose this year.

For all you guys that follow non-UT basketball more closely, do you guys think there is a chance UT goes 15-0 in their non-conference games? It seems crazy at first, but at first glance, the schedule looks like Memphis, UCONN, and a lot of teams UT should beat on an off night.

If Tennessee wins at Connecticut, they should. Memphis is talented, but young and will probably struggle dealing with the crowd in Knoxville.

The players will be hearing all about it. They should be fine, though. The Oakland/MSU game was played at the Palace. Another game that could be closer than what many think will be Charleston.

I'd be shocked if they lost more than 5 regular season games.

Do you think that the number and quickness of fouls (allowing double bonus with more than 10 minutes left in the half) is troubling? Or does the depth that we have allow us to continue to play more aggressively?

This team is still trying to find itself offensively. A big step in that search was taken by Hopson in this game. All teams will grow from 1st game to last but UT has more room for growth than any of the remaining teams on their schedule. The defense they are playing will make them a tough team to beat every night. If they played UK/UF this weekend on the road they would be favored.
