very physical. After every game they are always getting someone seriously hurt. Check other teams and you'll see this isn't the case. Therefore, I have to believe the problem lies at the feet of strength coach Johnny Long. Before Long took over Tennessee didn't have this many players getting hurt - particularly with shoulder injuries. Thus, I have to believe it relates either to what Long does or doesn't in strenght sessions.

Long builds the conditioning program around what Phil tells him to do. This is at CPF's feet. Ultimately, this is Fulmer's team and he is responsible for the screwups. If you look at today's Tennessean he admits that it is his and the rest of the staff's fault that the team was not prepared to play Arky. What more do you people need or want?!? He admits that he is not doing his job, that he gets paid over $2mil per year to do, and people are still defending him.

I've often thought that something was suspect with the strength and conditioning program.

I understand it's football and people are going to be banged up at the end of the year but come on. The injury bug certainly seems to get us more than other teams..

I don't know what's up with the ankles this year, but that's been a major problem.

The newest ankle injury: Robert Meachem on the onside kick with 30 seconds left.. It's just getting ridiculous now.

Ainge, Foster, Smith, Swain, and Meachem all have nagging ankle injuries now with Coker and Hardesty dealing with knee issues. It's hard to tell what the offensive linemen are dealing with..

I think UT's conditioning hasn't been up to the level of some of the other SEC teams for a while.

It does seem like UT has more injuries as a result.

Ever since Stuckey retired, the strength and conditioning have gone down hill. I don't care how much you can lift, if you are not properly stretching, this can lead to injuries on the football field.

world once directions have been given by the CEO its up to divisional managers to carry the directions out in an efficient manner - that's what they are paid to do. Fulmer may give Long his "game plan", Long is a professional and I'm sure he has full latitude in carrying out his responsibilites.

Really? Wasn't Stuckey at the helm when we lost Colquitt and Helton in one game? Wasn't Stuckey at the helm when we lost enough defensive backs that Carl Pickens had to play corner for half a season?

Are people seriously just looking for people to get rid of. How about we get rid of everyone, from the guys that wash the uniforms all the way up...

Another day of worthless threads after a loss to a team that had better talent on the field Saturday...

If you look at it long enough, you might start to believe that the talent is better on the field, or maybe its the coaching. :geek:

Pickens played CB because everyone else we had was terrible, not because they were injured.

Do you think the names of Jason Julian, Kelly Days, Keith Denson, and Preston Warren still bring back warm happy memories to opposing receivers from that era?

Jason Julian . . . How did that red headed joker ever get significant playing time at safety??
