A few posters have been complaining about Heupel's play calling. The problem is not play calling. It's execution! Here's what happened vs. Bama:

1st drive: P1 - Nico throws behind Bru
P4 - Sampson fumbles after big gain into FG range. -3 to -7 points

2nd drive: P1 - Perfect slant pass dropped by White
P3-Overthrew open receiver-may have been TD, FG range if caught. -3 to -7 points

3rd drive: P1 - Holding (Campbell) - 1st & 20.
P3 - Wide open WR for TD - WAY overthrown -7 points
P5 - catchable pass - incomplete
P7 - missed FG

At this point, Vols could be up by as many as 3 TD IF players executed. At least up by 10. I would put minimum 17 pts. not scored squarely on Nico.

4th drive: P4 - Bad pass pro, Nico held ball too long,
should have thrown to open back in the flat before being tackled.
P5 - Moore throws INT into double coverage

5th drive: P5 - INT. STUPID! Nico throwing long across his body under pressure. He left
pocket without being pressured. Should have stepped up in pocket.

6th drive: P7 - pass blocked, receiver open
P8 - another missed FG - 50 yds.

7th drive: P1 - Sack.

Should have had at least 17 pts. at halftime, maybe 24 or more.

HALF

1st drive: P4 - deep pass slightly underthrown to open receiver
P5 - Sack - on Karac

2nd drive: P5 - hit Bru in hands, not caught

4th drive: P2 - Overthrew McCoy possible TD
P4 - Catchable deep ball missed
P6 - Illegal touching: lined up covering slot
P8 - holding on Brazzell

5th drive P2 - bad pass to Sampson in flat

That's 22 plays with poor execution. If we execute on half of those plays, we probably win by >20.

there were a few bad plays called. the 3 stop and goes routes into 8 man coverage that resulted in a nico pick stands out as the worst call of the night. that one isn't just a bad call though. it is also poor play design. throw it in the trash.

I'm convinced the "fire Heupel" bunch are newer fans, 3-4 years, or mentally unstable. We were nothing fir 15+ years, a laughing stock under the previous 3 coaches. He's beat Florida, and bama, twice in the past 3 years. There's no way a long term, or mentally stable fan, wants to go bavk, or recalls nobody wanted this job. No big names, everyone turned us down. They praise teams like Georgia, and theur qb looks worse lately, sane fir Texas. I'd honestly like to know what they expect if we fire Heupel 😆
