I thought the play calling was much better against ND. We threw more deep balls than we had all year, which helped the run game look pretty good. My question is our WR's. Has anyone seen a WR junp or lay out for a ball all year? If it doesn't hit them in the numbers it is incomplete. There were at least 3 plays yesterday where WR's could have caught the ball if they'd only stretched out a little. I just don't see much effort there. I thought Ainge played well til the 4th qtr. He threw some passes that should have been caught, that would have been caught by #83 for ND. Does any of yall see it this way?

believer it or not, but sanders still called half the plays. he will continue to do it until the season is over.

fulmer doesnt have the cojones to admit that sanders isnt completely out of the equation yet.

but fulmer is likely the one who decided to play ainge the whole game, and throw deep balls.

Yes we threw deep but we dont attack the middle, so the safties can allways come over the top. We never throw to the tight-end between the linbackers,to make the DBs cover the whole field. Our QBs have no clue how to look off the safties.

Still no down the field screens, tight end only once (And it worked well), no counter plays, and no working the middle.

I do not understand why we are so reluctant to do these things.

Otherwise, okay I guess.

I thought ainge completed a couple of good throws over the middle to Fayton inside the 10? We do need to throw the ball to the TE more and run more slants. Our WR's are not man enough to make plays over the middle though. They can't even make catches in open space. I really think the awful play of the Wr's are limiting what they are trying to do.

I don't understand why we can't run slot WR's over the middle...

Just keep running over the middle, get physical with the opposing DB's, then as soon as they start playing inside, BAM, corner out.

I think that it comes down to not having any receivers who are tough enough to go over the middle. They're kind of different breed because you know that your chances of getting rocked increase when your in the middle.

I know that we had to move Tony Brown to the slot because nobody else wanted to step up and do it a couple of years ago. The middle has been pretty desolate since.

I think our WR's have the Peerless Price Disease. While with the Falcons, throwing to him was worthless. Like it was said earlier if the pass wasn't easy right in the numbers it just wasn't caught.

Let's do what the Falcons are doing and going to the TE's for the threat downfield.

Nothing changes completely until Fulmer FULLY relinquises offensive control! Maybe CPF needs to go if he will not do this!

Offense looked better, but ND has a terrible defense.

It doesn't seem like Ainge looks to the middle of the field until UT gets in the redzone.

Playcalling was fine. Plenty of opportunities, just poor execution once again. Something needs to be done to make these players accountable whether it is tougher practices, running after drops and fumbles or whatever these coaches are going to have to make it clear that the lack of execution is unacceptable.

I'm afraid that only taser guns can help us now.

Unfortunately I think you are right on the money.

I'll qualify this by saying I probably don't watch as much UT football as most of you, but:

I didn't think UT's problem was play-calling. Remove a couple bad decisions, take away one bad special teams play, and utilize your TE a bit more, and UT wins that game. I don't know what your D looks like for next year (who's returning, who isn't), but I think UT is going to be scarry good in 06.

Yes, our special teams blunders resulted in 17 points for the Irish. Tennessee just isn't a solid team this year. Notre Dame is. They played pretty close to perfect on all sides of the ball and you could tell that they have been coached up. Weis is going to be something to worry about in the future.

I'm not sure if Tennessee is going to be scary good next year, but I don't think they'll be as bad as they were this year. There are many things wrong with the program and it goes from the top to the bottom.

I know that we lose some good players next year, but I think that it's going to be good for this team in the aspect of them being a team again. We have some young guys who will step up. Sometimes it's better to have the team and not the individual players.
