Since our defense put a damper on Kentucky and AP being a push over, donyou think we wil see a drastic change in play style when we have to put in all on the line? What do you guys expect to see more of based off of cinci the last few years?

I'm sure CBJ has left a few tricks up his sleeve for the up coming few games. I also think we will see Worley keep the ball some, instead of handing it off every time he runs the read option.

New: Bubble screens, maybe utilize TEs and RBs out of the backfield in the passing game more. Neil can catch but we haven't thrown many to him.

Continue: quick slants.

If O stacks the box perhaps North on a fly route.

Personally, I hope we hope 4 yards and a cloud of dust. Mash them up front with 12+ play drives. If Worley has > 25 attempts we've lost for sure. < 20 and its a competitive game.

I think we will see a lot of screen plays this week. Tunnel screens and a few for Neal and Lane out of the backfield. I also think we try to showcase Pig Howard and get him the ball quickly in space.

Perhaps more two-tight end sets than we have seen thus far, to further amplify the advantage we have running the ball with our offensive line.

Play action. Quick slant, hitch and out patterns to get the defense in space. Quick outs to Neal out of the backfield. Oregon should load the box based on the film they have of Worley. A few up and corner routes to North and Johnson.

This. We didn't see Worley keep it at all like he did with APSU. Probably a couple of options though I worry about his speed compared to Oregon.

Looking for a fast paced game on both ends. We know the Ducks play fast with big gains so to stay competitive we probably need to do the same.

Read we used some 3 TE sets with Bullard as third TE. Seems like OU might see some of that next Sat. since everyone thinks we need to run alot and OU will stack the box . What say you?

On defense, I think we have been practicing for oregon the last two games which may have drawn some criticism in the WKU game. We were lining up to give a lot of space to their receivers, and they never once got behind us. At times their rb would break through for a good gain but never busted us for a TD.

Using a lot of misdirection etc works much better when there is a lot of field/space to work with, but is less effective within the red zone. Thats why alot of oregons scores come from highlight reel plays. I think butch has had the team practicing this "bend not break" defense because he knows that if we don't give up the big plays for TDs and instead settle for stopping them in the red zone for a field goal, we might have a chance.

More involvement of North in more than just long passes. End arounds bubble screens. He's terrific in space. Let him get a play like Cordarrelle against NC State when he ran it and see what he can do.

What about over 20, but under 25 attempts? Tie game?

Worley seems to be on the same page as Carter,Smith and Johnson.

I agree with most on the screens. We will see many of the WR variety. We've got to get the ball to North and get some YAC.

I would love to see us go empty with five wide with Lane and Neal on the field at the same time.

Sounds reasonable. I was afraid WKU would use more misdirection than they did. The Ducks Defense doesn't have an S on their chest. They are very fast and run to the ball in a hurry. We need sustained drives, mistake free, and convert on third downs to keep their offense off the field. If we can do that, then we have a fighters chance. Screen plays might not work with their defensive speed. Pass just enough to keep them from loading the box. All that said, it will still be a big challenge.

You're pretty spot on, except for thinking that those big runs that WKU had, Oregon won't score on. If Oregon has that type of space, they WILL score. They are extremely fast. Other than that, you're right.

I agree with our D strategy, BUT we can't allow big runs up the middle, if we can keep the around the edge and use the skdine as a 12th man we might be able to cut off the big plays. The middle is what will kill us, through the air and on the ground LB's need to be there.

This. I feel like Butch has been setting up the read-option for the remainder of the season with Saturday's win over WKU. Worley was left all alone on numerous inside zone runs. The backside of the plays was left wide-open for him to keep and run.
