I agree, player development has been really good with two key improvements, in my opinion, are the reduction in turnovers and inside/outside play. CKJH has done a great job of developing players individually and development of the team - role players playing within the system and the pieces on the floor at the time. The LVs are so much fun to watch . . . we still see breakdowns but they aren't game killing mistakes as they were in the past years.
GBO - GLV!!

I agree with that. My concern was player development with a roster that was limited on star power. She's done a good job of getting the most out of her inherited roster and infusing the new ones. Not knocking Holly but some jobs are too big for assistants, and some big jobs are a perfect fit for assistants. Player development was lacking for Holly.Coach K has also grown in coaching in the SEC environment,,,she works the refs harder, calls timeouts appropriately, subs with more purpose and makes adjustments on the fly.
Nice job in this area Kellie!

I think the two freshmen, Salary and Walker are going to be the next big stars on this team. I really like themI've seen huge improvement from Rennia Davis and Rae Burrell on the defensive end when they want to get down and play defense they can do it well. Sometimes it looks like Rennia is not having as good a year as in past seasons offensively and then you see she is averaging 1.30 points per shot attempt which is exactly where she has been her entire career. Rae Burrell has totally turned what was an inconsistent game offensively to one of the best players in the league. Then to see Key starting to break out means we could have a big three which would be very difficult for anyone to guard. You also see that as a three some they will go into the next game with a 1.40 points per shot attempt average between them. You would like to see and have heard Kellie say that we need more touches for the inside game. The offense should be built around the big three getting at least 40 shots per game and you would hope for even 50. At 40 shot that is 56 points and 50 if they could maintain their season average point production would be 70 points.
The point being after you get past those three the rest of the team and every other shot taken comes in at around 1.00 points per shot attempt. So you would like to see the entire group go for less shots and work more for the big three to get most of the shot attempts in a game. Of course you want everyone to keep taking the open shot, but Horston at 0.89, Salary at 0.89, Suarez 1.09, KK 1.10, and Walker 1.09 You see how the offensive production falls off. In year two this is still a better bench and starting five than the year before and it looks to be even better 1 through 10 next season. Very happy with the direction of the team this season and look for even better in the seasons to come.
Very good statistical analysis, Volfan2012. I agee. Burrell, Davis and Key (not Horston) are the "Big 3" from an offensive standpoint. The LVs need Horston to get the ball to the Big 3 and shoot only when she cannot do so.I've seen huge improvement from Rennia Davis and Rae Burrell on the defensive end when they want to get down and play defense they can do it well. Next season please forbid anyone transfer six of the eight players in the rotation return. Four starters return. You should see all these players further developed and more skilled than they are now. This along with a top 15 class of freshmen should definitely propel this team into the top three in the SEC next season.
I wouldn't want to say we could end that way when all the games are played although you might be right. I'm still not sure were the third best team in the conference this season although we might be. Next season I think we will be without a doubt.
I hope so we really haven't been tested on the road other than Alabama and LSU and we had more fans at Alabama than they did. I know we don't have the crowds this season but the real test comes at A&M, at Kentucky, at Georgia and home versus South Carolina. I doubt we play the Miss St game. The Missouri road game will also be tough. I need to see how we get through these five games as we could lose all five. I don't expect that to happen but none of those games will be easy to win.I think we are a top 3 team this year but the fun thing is we still have a chance to provide it. i love that we were voted as a 6th place team and have outplayed that

Absolutely spot on Coach Jumper. She also has developed a “team” environment, in which the players cheer each other’s accomplishments and actually seem to like each other and their Coach. Tamika Catchings remarked that her playing days at Tennessee with Kellie Jolly, they had practices that were harder than actual games. Playing point guard for a Pat Summitt NC team is the ultimate teaching tool.Coach K has also grown in coaching in the SEC environment,,,she works the refs harder, calls timeouts appropriately, subs with more purpose and makes adjustments on the fly.
Nice job in this area Kellie!
