Courtesy of the Athlon's football magazine, I looked at each schools roster and probable starters. This is what I found for players from the State of Tennessee.

Georgia - 2 players

Kentucky - 11 players, 2 starters
Ricky Lumpkin, Clarksville, DT
Randall Cobb, Alcoa, WR

Vandy - 17 players, 1 starter
Jamie Graham, Nashville, CB

Alabama, 7 players, 3 starters
Dont'a Hightower, Lewisburg, LB
Chris Jordan, Brentwood, LB
Barrett Jones, Memphis, G

Arkansas, 1 player

Auburn, 3 players, 2 starters
Mike Berry, Antioch, G
Daren Bates, Memphis, LB

LSU, 3 players, 2 starters
Josh Jasper, Memphis, K
Dominique Allen, Paris, FB

Miss State, 3 players

Ole Miss, 5 players

Thats 52 players and 10 starters from the State on other SEC rosters.

It looks like Dooley is really gonna try to put a fence up around TN.

With the Brendan Downs offer, he has made his 7th in-state offer for '11: Richardson, Washington, Kerbyson, King, Clear, Dunaway, and Downs.

He has already made 2 in-state offers for '12: Ben Still and Drae Bowles.

thats good stuff. I know Tennessee doesnt have GA, AL, LA, and FL talent but its not like its a desert either. Another positive is we dont have to contend with another major
d1 program in the state. We also touch more states than any listed above.
So I always thought the "lack of talent" in tennessee was a bit over rated.

Randall Cobb, Dont’a Hightower, Dominique Allen and Barrett Jones are the only ones I would like from that list. The other 48 are really nothing special.

I'd be interested to see the numbers of the players from outside of the Memphis area that stay home. It's much harder to hold onto the Memphis kids because there are several SEC schools that are closer than UT. I think our retention rate from the rest of the state is pretty high (Hightower and Jordan being exceptions).
