This is sort of a tweener, but I suppose it goes in this forum.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The focus on head injuries in pro football is turning to this year's potential draft picks.

For the first time, all 329 invited players at this week's NFL scouting combine will be given a baseline brain activity exam -- called the ImPACT test -- and will likely face more grilling than previous classes did about their concussion histories. Those implementing the changes call it smart football.

They could start with everyone Eric Berry has had contact with.

Wonder if it will show anything for the guys who are there simply because they can play football, but can't read a nursery rhyme?

doubt it (but even if it could, that stuff would never be revealed to the public)

this has to be all about just monitoring brain activity / function to make sure - with the new big focus on head injuries - that none of these guys are in the condition, as far as their brains, that a blow to the head would seriously be messing them up

(some possibility that the nfl isnt a liability by it is slightly possible too)

I'd think that among other things, limiting liability is one. If they actually do this and monitor and use the findings for what they infer, I could see an increase n players sitting when they might have played otherwise. Given the way hits are delivered at all levels of the sport, the result might spawn a new rule or two and/or some type of equipment change. Just speculation on my part.

This technology is sound?

At this age I don't beleive that the human brain stays at a certain activity rate/range in any of it's stages. This could change daily?
