Just an idea I thought of the other day. It keeps the BCS system, but adds a playoff. I'd like to hear opinions on whether you think it will work or not.

All BCS bowls are playoff games. No BCS NC game like the past two years.

Sugar
vs
Rose

Orange
vs
Fiesta

Or any combination, doesn't really matter.

Winner of Sugar/Rose match up plays the winner of Orange/Fiesta match up for the NC.

So pretty much the conference championship winners make it in with Non BCS conference champs getting at large bid if possible.

So this year it would have looked like this.

Round 1

Sugar
Florida
vs
Utah

Rose
USC
vs
Penn St

Fiesta
Oklahoma
vs
Ohio St

Orange
Va Tech
vs
Cincy

Round 2

Florida
vs
USC

Oklahoma
vs
Va Tech

Round 3/National Championship

Florida
vs
Oklahoma

This will produce more money to college football while still keeping the BCS system and bowl games, which makes college football unique. What do you guys think?

Neat idea, but you'd still have Boise State whining about being left out. Especially with Virginia Tech and Cincy in there. Also, I think it would be better if you somehow used the BCS rankings to seed it, rather than conference affiliations to determine the matchups. Cincy and VT suck. They should be playing the two best teams in the first round.

I like that it satisfies the sweet tooth of the playoff crowd, but yet keeps the regular season relevant. Minor issues may arise like...Where are these games played? How's that decided? And what if the cotton bowl gets backed by serious money moved into the new Cowboys stadium, and powerful people want it BCS level?

If this happened, I guess the only way my idea would work it to add 3 other BCS bowl games and do a 16 team playoff. I still don't think you should be considered for the NC if you didn't win your conference though. But I guess Capitol One could be another one to that could jump to BCS if this were to work. That just leaves two other bowl games to move up.

Sugar
Rose
Fiesta
Orange
Cotton
Capitol One

I don't know what other bowl games would be considered major ones. It would have to be ones other than SEC because we would have an unfair advantage over other school. Holiday Bowl maybe?
