Is FSU deserved of a spot in the final four without their QB? In my opinion the ACC is the weakest of the power 5 and a conference championship doesn’t hold a lot of water. I believe Alabama or the loser of the Big Ten would kill them. So would it really be the 4 best?

If we had beaten USCjr last year we would’ve burned the CFP headquarters in Texas if they would’ve kept us out bc Hendon was done. If they win out, big IF right now then they deserve to be in.

I thought the purpose of installing a playoff is so there's no question. Why are we having this debate?

Let’s assume UGA loses to Alabama in a close CG game. What team(s) of OSU, Michigan, FSU, Oregon/Washington and Texas would be favored over Georgia on a neutral field?

I thought the purpose of the committee was to place the 4 best teams in a playoff. My question is would that be the best 4 assuming Fl State’s qb is out?

Texas beat Bama at BAMA. Oregon or Washington should be one of the four pending an unexpected loss next week by them. OSU or Michigan will be one of the four.

If Bama beats UGA, and after all the dust settles, Washington, OSU or Michigan and FSU have zero losses. If Texas wins out - it comes down to Bama, Texas, UGA and the loser of OSU and Michigan. Bama and Texas would have won their conference game and Texas > Bama.

UGA loses to Bama - they are out. Bama loses to UGA and they are out.

None

Edit: Didn’t Bama beat UGA in the 2021 SEC CG and then UGA was still favored in the CFP title game?

I still don't understand. You can only pick 4. Where's the or?
I will assume this is a serious question, so I'll explain:

Three teams I believe are without question in the top four: Alabama, Georgia and Oregon.
The fourth team is OSU or Michigan which will be decided this coming weekend. They play each other. It is my belief the winner of that game is better than any other team except the three mentioned above. I do not have a belief as to which is better. I.e., they are equal in my eyes at this moment in time. That will change this weekend.

If that does not clear it up for you, you're on your own; I cannot do anymore for you.

Who do you take if it flushes out like this:

FSU 12-0
Washington 12-0
OSU 12-0 or 11-1
Mich 12-0 or 11-1
UGA 12-1
Texas 12-1
Bama 12-1

That would be chaos and I would love it. What is the most important? Record, head-to-head, conference championship, SOS, quality win/loss, eye test....?

In that scenario I think FSU, B10 champ, Washington and Bama would be the picks. I know head to head matters, but a 12-1 SEC champ Bama, coming off of a win over #1 UGA, isn’t getting left out.

UGA would be out. Bama is a different team now but how could you look at Texas, who whipped Bama at Bama, and tell them that’s not enough to get in over Bama who has the same record? You have to take Texas, even if Bama might be the better team at the moment. That win has to mean something, especially being at Bama.

My opinion is the best four are:

Alabama
Georgia
Oregon
OSU/Michigan
Committee don’t care about best 4, it will be all about spreading the love. SEC stands no chance of getting 2 in this year unless Oregon, Washington and Texas all implode in their next game.

Even with CFP12, the committee will try to keep the sec to 2&3 teams to share the love.

FSU is very similar to us last year, minus a tough schedule. Maybe that stupid thread in the football forum actually makes sense.

Right now FSU still deserves a spot.....with that said I think Louisville beats them in the ACC Championship and ends that debate.
