I know most of you know what that means. A lot of you need to do that exact thing. People have such short memories when it comes to UT Football. Why forget what this program has been through the past 4 years? Recruiting sucked. Player development sucked. Coaching in general sucked. Butch Jones and staff have had less than a year with them. LESS than a year. Guess what though, when you have something drilled into your head for 3 years by the same coaching staff, its really hard to change that in the time CBJ has had. These kids that Kiffin (What? Like 3?), and Dooley recruited and coached have had losing drilled into their heads. It's in their DNA. Until these guys leave and CBJ gets his players in here, were not competing with the Bamas or the Mizzous, because we don't have the talent nor have the players been in the same system for the same amount of time. Rome wasn't built in a day, and this ship isn't going to be righted in under a year. The last staff absolutely neglected coaching and CBJ has his work cut out for him. Good day.

Terry Bowden had a great first year at Clemson
Tommy Bowden had a great first year at the Barn
The last guy had a great first year at the Barn too( can't use his name, I lost a bet)
Nick Satan had a bad first year at Bama.
How did each of those turn out?

The truth is we won't know about Butch for a couple of years. His coaching history at lower levels is on our side plus there are signs things are turning around. Its going to take time. Sadly.

Dooley could have produced a team as good as we saw last night. I really don't see how we didn't score more. It seemed like we had excellent field position all night.

Maybe they have a losing mentality but that magically disappeared against SC last week and GA the week before. A losing mentality doesn't play Josh "stone hands" Smith all game, drop after drop after drop. It also doesn't sell it's soul to the read option. It also doesn't bench Byron Moore in favor of Justin "play 10 yards off your man on 3rd and 4" Coleman. It doesn't keep Peterman on the field after the worst QB play (overall) in the history of TN down in FL. Name one that was worse.

I think the players have bought in to the system but I don't know how much longer the recruits will keep lining up at the door if the coaches don't stop making boneheaded decisions.

Byron Moore and Justin Coleman play different positions.

At this point we are battling cannons with pea shooters. Most teams can exploit us with the speed factor.....on both sides of the ball. And, forgive a dose of reality, the Dobbs kid did as favorable a job as possible I suppose, (the same stat line for Worley would have produced pure hatred on this board), but fact is he shouldn't have even been on the field. It was forced on him by a very tough schedule that we are not deep enough to handle. YET.

Thanks for clearing up those misconceptions.

Your thread has proven valuable beyond measure.

No one knew that there were problems with the depth chart or that Dobbs was a true freshman.

Lol Josh "Stone Hands" Smith:lolabove::lolabove: . Good one man. But yeah man not many other options besides Coleman. He is being recruited over man. We just don't have the players man. The goal for the next two years is to just make a bowl. 6-6 is just fine this year and will give us leverage for the next class. We will be ok man it's a process

I agree. But that doesn't have anything to do with coaching. It's personnel. J Coleman and Josh Smit wouldn't see the field anywhere else in the SEC but that just shows you how bare the cupboard is here. All I'm saying is we need his guys to get in here to make a different team. This team doesn't know how to win.

Maybe last night, but there is no way we should have defeated Carolina with that 18-card deck we're playing with. Butch can't be that bad of a coach. Besides, we may as well keep him because we're too cheap to go after big names. Just give him a chance.

Can't believe that I am going to say this but I do agree with you on the point that we will not know about CBJ for a couple of years. I would point out that CBJ did not have to "rebuild' either of the programs he took over after Brian Kelly - CBJ does face an incredible task here - the biggest of his career but he is recruiting very well this year!
