Stars mean little when talking about character and potential. Recruiting three star guys have turned out well for Tennessee in the past. This year alone about 10 starters and all are specialists were rated three stars or lower by rivals.

Offense

Arian Foster 3*
Ramon Foster 3*
Anthony Parker 3*(All-American)
Josh Briscoe 3*
Jeff Cottam 3*
Vladimir Richard 3*
Austin Rogers 3*
Quinton Hancock 3*
Kevin Cooper 3*
Denarius Moore 3*

Defense

Ellix Wilson 2*
Dan Williams 3*
Dennis Rogan 3*

Special Teams

Chad Cunningham 2*
Daniel Lincoln 2*
Dennis Rogan 3*
Britton Colquitt 2*

If the team wants to live up to the optimism of the fans they are going to rely heavily on these guys. I would rather have a 3* guy who has great potential that works hard than a 5* guy who thinks he deserves the spot based on his rating. With the exception of a few (Colquitt) most of the guys on this list have their head on straight.

yeah, all of them were good three-star prospects, some of the guys we are getting are closer to 2 star than 4 star.

Who? Only Revis and Schofield would be considered close. Schofield hasn't been rated but will be a high 3 *.Everyone else is closer to 4* and have chances to move up with good senior years.

I know I sound like a broken record, but some will also move down due to bad senior years. That's just how the system works.

The chance of moving up is sooo much higher than moving down. Most of these guys will now be starting rather than splitting time at their positions

Honestly, the fact that we brought in more under-the-radar players than usual bothered me. For what reason, I don't know. We are still going after some big names, and hopefully the number of scholarships left wouldn't become a factor.
