Jordan Gainey

16 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists while running the point for over 30 minutes replacing ZZZ.

Loads of contributions from all 7 guys.

Play of the Game: Mashack steal pass up to Cade, pass to Boswell and back to Cade for the slam without the ball ever touching the court - just beautiful!

Honorable mention Felix Okpara and team Defense. Everybody played solid D today, it took the pressure off our offense.

Only 1 turnover in 37 minutes, too.

Gainey actually held on to the ball today. My biggest knock on him was turnovers.
It may not seem like it, and we tend to have selective memories, perhaps remembering the late TO against UK, but Gainey only has 21 TOs on the season. That's 1 per game.

Gainey played well, the one turnover was with three minutes left in the game, fairly well in control when that happened.

First half lead and the run to start the second half were triggered by the passing of the ball around the perimter, not dribbling the ball around the pertimeter, not dribbling the ball into the paint to see what happens, Chaz's shots came of solid picks at the three point line, not him trying to move off a ball screen (which is getting very old and very predictable). Chaz is more of a stand still like Skylar McBee, he's not an Alan Houston type guard who could shoot from anywhere, standing, moving or driving. Offense benefitted from points in transition, Florida defense could not set up, even when they wanted to play a trap press.

Barnes should have confidence to rest ZZ more often now, the offense should run the way it ran today when ZZ is on the bench, screens and picks all over the place, players actually moving across the lane, a few picks down low, the ball went into the paint with authority, refs were as bad today as always, but good things happen when the ball goes toward the rim not out on the perimeter just spinning the clock down,

Break for Tennessee when Clayton goes out in the first half and again in the second half and did not return, could be a bad knee, Condon had foul trouble, sat in the first half, sort of vanished in the second half, Jamia is an absolute thief on defense, the steal to set up the Phillips to Boswell back to Phillips dunk, was triggered by insane concentration and never looking up and once the ball was loose, there was no way he was not going to grab it,

Nice win in front of a national television audience

Huge BREAK for the Gators with 21 points/game and 11 boards, and some steals, out for the entire game. It's a little more than a nice win

Lanier’s 3 pointers were huge, but IMO Gainey’s overall play won out. Gainey was our only PG option and he played very well both on O&D
And yet many on this board were ready to banish him to the bench for the rest of the season four nights ago.

Defense was outstanding. Even when Fla had an open shot, they were rushed. A lot like when Vols played there.
