It seems to me we would be better having JP at the Point. Maze can start the game. Defenses do not respect his shooting ability. Best lineup for us JP, Hopson, Smith, Chism, Tatum. C'mon playing against a zone defense, you got Tatum and Hopson at the wings. one of em' will surely get off. consider the last 2 postseason, Coach P also ends playing JP at the point. Goins is doing great, he is playing ball hawking "up in your grill defense".

NCAA tournament game against Butler comes to mind. Not pretty.

BTW, was anyone else surprised that it was Goins in at the end of the game yesterday instead of Maze? I didn't have any sound, so was there some explanation for it?

The explanation was that Maze had played terrible to that point and Goins had played not as terrible and actually played some defense and hit a few shots.

JP is turnover and a bad shot waiting to happen. I was wondering why Goins was in the game instead of maze at the end of the game too.

Uh lulz JP at the point would hurt us but Melvin is being a man in defense and rebounding.

Goins has been a very pleasant suprise. Start him over J.P. and Maze for sure imo....

I think you'll find that most people around here aren't very impressed with Prince.

It's quotes like this that cause me to keep 911 on speed dial. *in best Dick Vitale voice* 'JP Prince is turnover city baby'. I'd turn the game off and probably never watch anymore if Pearl starts JP at the point. Oh man would I be pissed lol!

JP is the third best PG on the team right now (and that's best-case scenario). He plays HORRIBLY running the point. Melvin Goins is our best PG, and needs to get the majority of the PT there as long as he stays healthy.

you guys forget how active JP was 2 yrs ago. if Tatum and Hopson start shooting like JaJuan and Chris he will be free to crash the boards again IE the Memphis and Florida games in 07/08 season. when McBee gets finds the mark"which he is real close to doing. JP and Maze can fight over the 8th spot in the rotation. Goins is the best defensively.

What does Woolridge do in the offseason? he has to find speciality. Coach needs to make him bang around in the paint for a while.

guys I'll be honest, Goins looks fair. Maze looks just about the same. I don't get to watch a LOT of vol basketball, but from what I have seen Maze looks like the lesser of the two evils...but on a positive note Tatum is playing great off the bench, and B.Williams finally looks a little athletic...

You have never watched a TN B.Ball game if you are saying that....Bruce tried that...vs Louisville...but our guards are not anything to love right now...Maze played ok tonight, but Goings...maybe he should go-ing to practice more

I have been the biggest JP defender on here.

I want to believe...but he makes it impossible.

His defense is all hands when his speed and length makes that unnecessary if he had some effort and intelligence. He misses layups like tonight with one easy miss and one difficult one that would have won the game either way.

Brian Williams guys? He looked slow and horrible to me. He is better than what he was, but what he was is a project like Childress who should not playing for a top 10 team.

Look, I understand and share your frustration with Maze and Goins, but Prince at PG would be an epic failure.

When JP is on the court and not running the baseline on offense, he should be pulled immediately by Pearl. That is his only real asset on the team. Slashing and finding open pockets for easy baskets.

He is good for the press with his long reach but those would be his only two assets.
