We all know that Georgia has far more offensive weapons than we currently possess, but here are a few stats that are, nevertheless, encouraging to our cause:

"The Bulldogs enter this week's game at Tennessee ranked 13th in the Southeastern Conference in passing yardage allowed (277 per game), and they are 14th in scoring defense (32.5 ppg). The [LSU] Tigers converted 10 of 15 third-down plays into firsts, so it's no surprise Georgia is last in that category as well, allowing a 44.8-percent conversion rate. . . . In rushing defense, Georgia ranks sixth in the SEC, allowing a respectable 126.8 yards a game" (Georgia Bulldogs last in the SEC in third-down defense | timesfreepress.com).

Obviously, we will not outscore the Dawgs offensively, but, if we can generate a number of turnovers and/or outright defensive scores, we may keep this game more respectable than the disparity in offensive weaponry would otherwise suggest.

I will take any positives. Good post! Someone will be along to destroy said positives in 3...2....1....

I'm sure those numbers had nothing to do with playing 3 top 10 teams so far this year.

I would take more comfort in the fact that they give up a lot of passing yards per game if we had someone who could actually pass.

I agree it will be nice if we can get some bounces go our way and force some turnovers because if we can't do that its probably going to be a real long day inside Neyland. Maybe the football gods will shine on us Saturday and we can turn it in to a dog fight. Smokey vs that other old dog. LOL. GO VOLS!

Points? We could use more of a Quantum of Solace. James Bond wouldn't happen to be in Knoxville, would he?

They turned the ball over to us a bunch last year. Maybe the trend will continue. Our defense seems to be more focused on creating turnovers this year.

That's because they are mud slow. They are smart enough to know if they get their hands on the ball they better beat and rob the person carrying it or they are gone.

It sucks that Gurley is out. Marshall made us look bad last year. Why couldn't we have gotten one of those guys?

Soon, ppl, The Hurd is coming!

We'll have to turn them over to have a chance. They're just too good offensively..

Here's the problem as I see it: Georgia's apparent weakness, their pass defense, goes against our weakness, the passing game. Our strength, the running game, will be going against their apparent strength, rushing defense. Also, I don't like the match-up between our defense in general against their offense.

I've got a feeling this one will get ugly, ala Oregon a few weeks ago. I've already got my bottle of Crown and a case of Coors Light... I'll be ready...
